Wow, I really haven't written this week.

Wednesday night was spent at home watching the Fighters game on BS1 to kick off interleague. I liveblogged it on Marinerds. Hooray.

Thursday night was spent at Japanese class. I'm falling behind in the class and I really either don't have the time or don't want to make the time to do the avalanches of homework for it. Embarrassingly, in our mini-test this time we did reading comprehension, and I totally understood the reading, BUT COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THE FUCKING QUESTIONS! Grrr. I also dyed my hair on Thursday night afterwards.

Friday night, I went to Ikebukuro to run a few errands first, namely getting a few photos of Hosei players printed out in the hopes of getting them signed, and a stop at the card shop and such. I took the Toden streetcar there from school, and it took bloody fucking forever. I think it may actually be faster to walk to Tabata, really. Did see the yakiniku restaurant run by Carp infielder Matsumoto's parents, which is right by the Toden stop by my school. Points to a 7th-grader who told me about it. Oh, had kaitensushi for dinner at the place on the east side I go to sometimes. I often get gaijinned there, but this time not only was I not gaijinned but I was sitting next to other gaijin and while I was just ordering and all in Japanese, the other gaijin, who weren't speaking English or Japanese to each other, were being all Englished at by the staff. But then the sushi chef muttred in Japanese, "Hahaha I only have Eiken 4-kyu", and I was like "Really? So you're like a JHS 2nd-year?"

Then I came home and talked to Mike on Skype, and stuff.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to be interviewed by a guy from the Kansas City Star this week because he was writing a piece about Trey Hillman. Then Hillman got fired.

Saturday was a relatively big day in terms of stuff happening. I went to Jingu for college ball - the first game was Meiji-Keio and the second was Hosei-Waseda, so I sat with Meiji people in the front row for the first game. I kinda know their entire gang now, but that doesn't mean that the old guys who never shut up for the whole fucking game, yelling obnoxious crap pretty much right in my ears, ever gets less annoying. The more annoyed I got, the more I hoped Keio would win so that the guys would shut up. And well, Keio staged an epic comeback in the 9th inning and won 3-2, so that was satisfying :) They all disappeared for the most part between the games and only a few came back for the second game.

For the second game I was sitting next to a lady who is friends with the Meiji crew, but she is a Kagami fan too, so we sat there for the second game. The good part about that game was that Kanji Kawai, a kid I saw hit a sayonara home run last year at Koshien, led off and played third base for Hosei, so I was psyched about that. And he got two hits off Yuki Saitoh, which was even more awesome (nobody else on the team managed more than one). I mean, here is an 18-year-old kid making his college debut and the pitchers he has to face are basically two of the most famous college guys in the country? (Saitoh, and Ohishi, who threw nothing below 93mph) And he's just out there like "Bring it on"? Awesome. I really like this kid already. :)

UNFORTUNATELY, Waseda beat Hosei 3-1. Aforementioned Saitoh-pitcher got a home run off Kagami (WTF?) and then in the 8th, Shohei Habu hit a 2-RBI triple to right as well, so bleh. It was really sad and I almost wanted to cry when it happened, because I knew Ohishi was coming out to pitch for Waseda and there was no way in hell the Hosei batters were going to do anything against him. And Kagami actually hit 95mph on the radar gun just beforehand, too. Mishima pitched the 9th for Hosei, he also has a May 7th birthday like me, and he also threw a lot of stuff in the 90s so that was good, but... oh, sigh.

Mizushima came by a bunch of times to say hi. One time he brought with him a sophomore pitcher named Shogo Wada. I have no fucking clue WHY he brought him -- and he was all like "...oh, this kid went to the same HS as the Fighters' Kinoshita," and I'm like "uh, okay... which school?" and eventually I had to ask the kid himself, "what's your name? what school and year?" and then I was like "OH! Were you classmates with Yusuke Yamada?" and he said yeah, and I was embarrassed to admit that YES I had seen him at Koshien but I didn't remember anything about Toho that year except Yamada's walk-on homerun.

I also gave Suda that scorebook I brought for him. I wanted to just give it to him but he insisted on paying me for it. /e shrugs.

After the game I wasn't sure if talking to players would be possible -- there was a Yakult game so it was crowded AND there were all the Waseda fans waiting for them to come out so it was crowded. But as it turns out, the players came out anyway. I saw Kagami but he was in a hurry. Saw a few of the other guys. Should have bugged Yoh Sasaki but I was too shy and slow. Eventually I did bug captain Ohyagi, and Taki, and Imai for autographs. Oh, and I did finally say hi to Mishima and tell him about the birthday thing and he kinda laughed like "I heard about that," so... heh. Whoops.

That actress I mentioned before, Tokachi Hanako, was there again too, and she gave me a CD of some duet songs she did with Kenji Nanda a few years ago. (this CD.) Mizushima was all like "Dude, you should sign it for her", so she did. My life is bizarre. I now have an enka CD signed by an actress that I know from cheering for college baseball.

Anyway, it was crowded and I was sad and I had to go meet up with my friends Andy and Jamie for dinner, so I headed out. I ended up running home to drop off my big camera and a bunch of stuff, and then to Ikebukuro to meet up with them.

But, upon meeting up, we got in a train and went to Shinjuku. I had suggested Ikebukuro to meet up since it's easier and they are staying there. So in Shinjuku we ended up walking around for a while, went through Don Quixote and stuff, got okonomiyaki for dinner, hung out in the arcade in the Humax building and played Pop'n'Music battle together, then did karaoke for an hour at the Uta-Hiroba there.

I dunno, I could write more but that's really about it. I have some photos but haven't taken them off my camera yet. Okonomiyaki was fun, I went to the place where you make it yourself, which is always interesting for newcomers. Karaoke, I sang a few things in English and a few in Japanese (since Andy's played the ouendan game thingy I was able to do Over the Distance and things like that). Jamie picked all stuff by Weezer for some reason :P

I'm going to meet up with them again today and go to Odaiba! Hooray. So I should go do that.

I feel a little guilty that I said I would go back to Jingu today but then decided not to because I wanted to sleep late and meet up with people. Oh well.

Also look, I made a new LJ icon for the first time in a while so that I can talk about college baseball even though I suppose I won't be talking about it much more :(
