DDR and Del's and other stuff

Today I went and played DDR in the afternoon with people from like 11am on. Rebecca gave me a ride there and back, and Sam showed up for a bit, and Juan was there too, and Chris showed up at his normal time, and Dice Boy was there too. There were also two unnamed newbies who were there and left about ten minutes after we got there. They did a set with like Boom Boom Dollar Basic, Gotcha Basic, and Kick the Can Basic, getting C's on all of them. Right after that Rebecca and I did a set with B4U Trick, My Summer Love Trick/Maniac, and Kick the Can Maniac. I full-comboed all of them, which majorly impressed the newbies and they applauded, but I felt a little bit funny about it. I mean, I kind of like showing off to people who will be impressed with me because they don't know any better, but I guess showing them up on Kick the Can wasn't very nice of me. Sam tried over and over again to pass Gentle Stress Double Maniac, and he literally failed by ONE ARROW at the end on his third time. I played some battle mode with Juan and kicked him at Face and Byul but he kicked me at La Senorita Virtual. Dice Boy, who now calls me "DDR Freak" because I was wearing the shirt both times he's met me, and who I call "dice boy" because he wears a necklace made of dice, played a set with me, but it wasn't very exciting. Around 3:30 I got cramps and just sort of had to quit playing for a bit... so I went and ate food, which I hadn't done all day, and when I got back to the arcade the Bethel Park kids had shown up. At this point Rebecca was quitting because her knees hurt and Sam was leaving to come work on his OS assignment more, so I played a last set and then we all left. Whee. I dunno, I did a lot of good DDRing, but it still bugs me how my stamina sucks and how I get into major coughing fits if I really push myself. I didn't really push myself today though and so I didn't have any major health problems. I only did a few 8-footers (super star, do it all night, in the navy, am-3p, and luv to me), and mostly just did 6-7 footers and a bunch of doubles. I did notice that Juan's weak points are a) slow songs like Byul and b) the entire Covers & Classics category.

Anyway, we left and I got home around 5:15, earlier than I thought I would, but I really needed a nap. I didn't actually get to nap, but at least I wasn't rushed for getting ready for dinner.

Dinner was at Del's to celebrate Ralph's birthday. Ralph and Lori were there of course, and Paul and Mary, and Raven and Steve, and Kevin and Larry and Deirdre. Eli and I mostly talked with Steve and with the Hutchinsons, although it was more like, Larry and Steve were having conversations across us and we would get involved with them from time to time. I had good eggplant though and the birthday cake was really yummy and Ralph blew out all 31 candles in one shot. I think he liked the gift we gave him, which was a picture frame with this picture blown up to 8x12 inside it, and doubles of the kitten pictures from that particular roll of film. And now I can go back and change the entries in here from last week about my Squill trips to "...went and dropped off the negatives of the kitten pictures" and "picked up the prints and a nice frame for the Louie picture, which came out rather nice in 8x12 matte. I hope it turns out to be a good present." rather than just "got some pictures" :)

Oh, and I got to drive to and from Del's, and I got to put gas in the car afterwards, too!

I just went and baked some brownies for D&D tomorrow. Still haven't decided on what to add a level of. Blah. Why did Carl just log off? Argh...

Are you sure it's all slow songs? It might be just Byul, because most people avoid that song. :)

Anyway, I think Dead End SSR and Matsuri Japan maniac are good stamina builders, because they're relatively easy catas with a lot of steps. But it will hurt at first.
