Bridge, CS Picnic and Iron Dragon and stuff

Today was the CS undergrad picnic. (I will mention here of course that I saw [profile] puuj because he was like "Oo! A Deanna-sighting!" And I read his t-shirt colors.) Because I am a moron I forgot to bring my Carnival pictures to campus again. Oops. Anyway, before the picnic I played like three hours of bridge with babailey, Charlie, and Nick, and Drew, and... I think that's about it. I got my pictures from Monday, so now I have the KGB group shots (but I gave the doubles to Fwiffo, who was supposed to bring them to the KGB sushi dinner tonight and foist them off on someone, so I hope he did that). Anyway, I went outside to listen to Cornerstone (I think that's what they're called... the band I think of as "Drew's band", but since Drew was sick with a fever and didn't want to sing, and [personal profile] jcreed wasn't playing since they only had one keyboard, the band was Steve, Ann, Kevin M, and Matt (I think... the violin guy)). Deryck played drums for them, but he's not a regular or anything. Anyway, despite having no Drew, they did pretty well I thought, and they have an interesting sound because of the keyboards and violin and all. I was standing next to the senior Blums while taking mad pictures of the band and Lenore was like "Will you scan pictures so we can put them up on our super-cool Women@SCS page, since Ann is a very important member of it?" I was a little bit curt in my answer since I was concentrating on taking pictures, and I realized later that might have been rude. (I was accumulating rude points today, I think.) After Cornerstone, Miroslav (Deryck's normal band) played. They of course were really good, but a lot of people left the stage by that point. So I felt sort of bad for them, but I decided to leave too since I wanted to see people at the picnic. I went and played a few games of volleyball, which was good, except that my shoulders and arms are shot, so it was bad.

After volleyball I came indoors and hung out for a little while. Eventually Carl came by and asked if I'd want to hang out with him and Kevin ([profile] buoren) for dinner. (I accumulated my second rude point of the day on the way out the door, although I really do think Dan deserved my rude comment for yet again telling me how useless my D&D character is in a campaign WHERE HE DIED AND IS NOT EVEN PLAYING IN ANYMORE). We went to My Thai and Roman came along too. I had pad thai again and it was good. We went back to Kevin's and played some DDR and then a long long game of Iron Dragon (and then some DDR interspersed with Iron Dragon while people's build turns took forever). Considering I haven't even seen the game played since sometime in 1997 or 1998 I think (I really don't remember but it involved [profile] mj2q totally beating everyone), I did pretty well - I had a position at the end where all I had to do was fulfill my three card contracts which would have taken about 6 turns, and I'd have 250+ gold. But, Kevin won. Oh well.

Also, Drew is a bastard who has probably given me this annoying fever/cold. Grr.

Mark does tend to beat everybody at Iron Dragon. I rejoiced when I finally got good enough to squeak by him every once in a while.

Just to clarify, it was a short game of Iron Dragon. This => Long game in general, of course.
