Japan Series Game 3
In short -- today was a holiday, so no school either.
I watched the World Series for about an hour this morning. Go Phillies... hopefully...
Went to Jingu for Keio-Hosei rookie taikai in the afternoon. Spent most of the game talking to people and taking photos and not watching it that much. Would have watched more if Kei Tamura had made an appearance, I'm sure.
Went to Tokyo Dome after that for Game 3 of the Japan Series, which is my Fighters against the despised Yomiuri Giants. Holy fuck. I got there fairly early, and I snuck into the outfield Fighters cheering section (my ticket was infield) and it was like some kind of crazy reunion, seeing a whole ton of people I hadn't seen in several months, in some cases. A bazillion people came up to say hi to me for a change, which was nuts, I couldn't make it through an entire row without getting stopped by someone. One woman I'd never seen before came up to me and said in Japanese, "I've seen your blog! It's amazing!" I saw people from all over the country who had come to Tokyo for the day.
Dumb thing is, the only person I couldn't find in the outfield was the one I had come to find, my friend who had come up from Nagoya. Namely because he had gone hunting for ME in the infield. Oops.
Anyway, I also managed to find the people who got me tickets for Games 4 and 5, so now I have a lot less cash in my wallet but I have tickets in hand for the games. Hooray. One of them is an English-speaking Japanese dude who reads my blog, and he said he'd invite me next time him and his (other English-speaking) coworkers go to Erika or something. That'd be cool.
I also gave photos to a lot of people, which is always fun. My friend finally DID find me and we hung out for all of like, 5 minutes. We were standing there talking and people kept coming up to say hi to me, and he's like "You're famous!" It was kind of embarrassing.
Um, if only the game itself was as exciting as the pre-game... well, it kind of was. The game was tied 3-3 at one point and all the runs were solo home runs. But then the Giants, namely Ogasawara's Clean-shaven Doppleganger, pushed ahead some more runs and the Giants eventually won 7-4 and it sucked.
Oh, but former USA president George W. Bush threw out the ceremonial first pitch, how crazy is that? I found out, that's why they had us scanned by metal detectors at the gates and all. Wacky.
Caught up with a few more people after the game but was so totally exhausted I just went home. Took photos off my camera. Have been editing them and whatnot... I really wanted to go to sleep an hour ago but I suck.
Here's one though, I wanted a photo of me punching the crap out of this thing with Giants manager Hara's fists -- I'd seen it during the playoffs and just as I was looking for it again I found one of my Fighters friends and said "HELP! I need someone to take a silly photo for me!" and so she did:

This is actually the only photo I have of me from today. I'll have to actively try to get one of me like "LOOK THIS IS ME AT THE JAPAN SERIES" tomorrow.
