killer weird movie

So, my plan for the day was to go to Jingu and watch college baseball, because I really want to see some Tohto league and this is my only weekday chance. But thanks to the rain, they cancelled today's games. Doh!

So instead, realizing it was Ladies Day Wednesday, I went up to Saitama Shintoshin and saw a movie instead. Given the options, I figured I'd either go for Symbol or for Killer Virgin Road -- and due to timing, I ended up seeing the latter.

I don't even know how to sum up this movie except to say that it was a good healthy dose of WTF with some pretty funny moments. Basically, there's a girl named Numajiri Hiroko who is getting married (this is introduced via a musical number, actually) and who has been a failure at most things her whole life (having been nicknamed "Donjiri Biriko" as a girl, which pretty much means "last place bottom of the pile girl"). She has this creepy landlord who is secretly totally obsessed with her and has been taking photos of her and stealing her underwear and all this other stuff. By accident and with the help of her landlord's overly-sentient dog, she kills him, on the day before her wedding. Then, uh, stuff happens, as she steals a car and drives off into the mountains with her landlord's body in a suitcase... where she meets Kobayashi, a completely crazy lady who completely fails at love and ALSO fails at killing herself for whatever reason (this is ALSO introduced as a musical number, but why these are the only two musical numbers in the film is somewhat inexplicable). And then they go on this nutso adventure, which involves running away from a motorcycle gang and a police officer on a bicycle, and also randomly meeting a woodcutter in the forest and all of this bizarre shit that happens but really, I know I understand the Japanese language just fine, I just have no clue WHY THE FUCK DOESN'T SHE JUST LEAVE THE SUITCASE WITH THE BODY SOMEWHERE? I mean, they're in the FUCKING FOREST, why don't they just BURY THE DAMN THING? Eventually these two foreign crooks accidentally carjack the two women and take the body with them anyway.

On the other hand the movie had this really sad scene where Hiroko finally gets to the altar only to find her grandfather there (pretty much her only family member who was ever nice to her) and he's dying. Which was really sad to me because of course I saw the movie on my dad's birthday and it made me think how, if I ever get married, my dad won't be alive to see it.

But yeah, overall it was pretty funny, if completely fucked up. And I'd been thinking on the way in how I really wanted to see a Koide Keisuke movie and he happened to be in this as one of the random side characters (the guy she steals the car from, actually). And Nakao Akiyoshi was also in it as the leader of the motorcycle gang... actually, all of the supporting random side characters are fairly famous actors. And the two main women were played by Kimura Yoshino and Ueno Juri.

Anyway, after that I went to Kua'Aina and got lunch, and after THAT I came back to Akabane and ran errands. That is, I went and paid for things, which is not particularly fun, but is particularly necessary. I paid my rent at the bank, and paid bills at a convenience store, and then I went to the post office and transferred money to my account that my internet bill gets taken out of, and then I also paid for my JLPT test, since you need to do a post office payment thingy for it. So I guess I am going to take the test for real, even though I AM GOING TO FAIL. I didn't have a photo with me at the time, though, so I couldn't actually send in the application yet.

I came home and basically cleaned my room until I found the sheet of passport photos I took for LAST year's test, so I don't have to waste 700 yen getting a new photo. Tomorrow I guess I'll send in the app.

I also did laundry and did some more cleaning of my room, but it's still pretty far gone. I dunno why I'm so particularly messy right now... just always so busy, tired, etc.

I didn't do much for the evening, just hung out here watching the Fighters game on TV. It was a close game and they won, which was good.

So, tomorrow (since I don't have to go to school, there are no classes) I'm thinking that MAYBE I'll go to the Tohto League games. Not positive yet... I kind of want to go to the Lotte-Seibu game in the evening becaues it's Shunsuke Watanabe day, so I'm not sure I can handle two Tohto games AND the Lotte game, BUT at the same time I really do want to see the Tohto league... eh, though, I think most of the players I really want to see aren't actually seniors so I would have a chance to see them next year too.

Hm, I think the best idea is for me to go to sleep and worry about it when I wake up.
