Carnival starts off with a big bang

Well, actually, this afternoon was sort of slow and blah. I woke up a little later than planned and went to Giant Eagle and stuff. But. I went to Wean and hung out for a bit, got people to play Attrition and played some Speedler with ajr, mlahut, and Carl. Nick and Carl and I went to the bandroom and changed, and I took some pictures of people, and then we marched across campus to the Kiltie concert at 5:30pm.

First thing: IT WAS REALLY HOT TODAY. Oh man. And it was EVEN HOTTER IN A BAND UNIFORM CONTAINING A REAL WOOL KILT. Gaaah. I was just utterly soaked in sweat afterwards. But, the concert went pretty well, all things considered. A lot of people showed up to it, specifically a lot of my friends, and we didn't even really screw up very much. Eli taped it for me (thanks honey!) and it sounds good.

Sam Pinansky helped me take my baritone home afterwards, and we played some Oha for a bit, and then I sent him out to get his own dinner since I wanted to shower and change and eat something here, and so I did that, but in the midst of dinner Rebecca came over (she was at the concert, too). So she set up some DDR pads while I showered and changed. In the meantime [profile] happysteve and Niki showed up. Then Sam came back... Nick was vaguely early arriving too. I don't remember the order of arrivals much, but for my own remembrance I think the following people were in attendance at one point or another (besides the aforementioned Sam, Nick, Rebecca, Niki, and Steve): me, eli, rochberg, colohan, charlie, davidcache, [profile] dvarin, [profile] rmitz, [profile] buoren, [profile] mj2q (and his friend Christa), trey, bayani, [profile] bn29, dkb, rrost, nateb, ctf, [profile] alibash, cdinwood, ajr, rehana, angel, [profile] mg4h, gootmu, jcheney, [profile] jd7a, [personal profile] donutjay, [profile] shimmeringjemmy, and [profile] wyndam. About 35 people... an impressive amount for our apartment which is big but not gigantic, especially when limited to the living room, dining room, and foyer area. It was very crowded and hot though so it felt like a lot more people.

Anyway, so there was a lot of bridge going on because Charlie was there, and then Carl and Dan and Marc and such got some other games going, like Ido, and then Tigris, and even Scrabble. In the meantime there was a lot of videogaming. We started out with some DDR Oha, then 5th mix, then various other mixes for an hour or two, eventually ending up in Disney's Rave for battle mode. It was exciting, except for the part where Sam won every single round for 20 rounds... I almost aced him with Macarena, but JUST missed winning.. so after that we switched to Para Para Paradise for a bit, which was fun, getting people to do the routines and all, and then we did Guitar Freaks. I also set up my Nintendo in the foyer, and Rochberg and Bob Rost and Tom and such played Contra and some other games. In the end, we got into a big game (9 people... dave, rehana, adam, trey, dan, eli, sam, me, and carl) of Apples to Apples that lasted until around 2:30am and then everyone left.

So, I had a great evening. Thanks to all who showed up and made it a great party, and ummm... so what should I do for my birthday in three weeks?
