DDR, C'mon, C'mon...
Ok, so I am still sick, and I am kinda stupid. But damned if I'd let a little sore throat entirely ruin my weekend!
So last night after I posted my thingy here I was offline and online, laying down and occasionally doing stuff at the computer, basically takin' it easy and all. I went to sleep at a decent hour and woke up feeling a bit better than before, so when Sam Pinansky called at 11am to see if I still wanted to go play DDR, I said "Sure!" Sam has the Kiltie cold too. Worse than I do, I think - he was hoarse for most of the day. It didn't stop him from playing DDR either.
So we went out to Beaver Valley. Of course, the Fort Pitt tunnel was closed, so there was like a half hour worth of detours and crap. Now, you know, Sam talks more than I do, and I am by no means quiet. It's even worse when Sam is hoarse and talking more than I am, 'cause I sort of felt sorry for him. But we made it out there ok.
We went to Volkwein's (a store that sells sheet music, instruments, accessories, etc) first, where I looked at a bunch of stuff and eventually bought a soprano recorder, a tin whistle (a real one, in D, not like my weirdass one) and a kit to clean my baritone. Now I just have to figure out how to do the cleaning stuff. Sam got some mutes for french horns and asked about prices of percussion instruments for AUO, I think he wants to try to get money to buy timpani. Volkwein's is cool. Oh, I also picked up some buttons that say things like "I *heart* my baritone". Yeah!
Ok, after that we went to the mall. Sam hadn't had lunch so he went and got pizza, and I went and got ice cream, because ice cream makes my throat feel better. Then we went to the arcade, and *gasp* there were actually other kids playing DDR! How weird! We also saw Angel (I think that's his name) who is this guy we met last time we went out to BVM to play DDR. So the highschool kids had to leave at 3pm, and afterwards we just dominated the DDR machine. It was fun. We did a whole bunch of random songs. Although I felt a little dizzy sometimes while sitting out, I was pretty much fine when we were on the machine. I had brought a towel to wipe sweat off my forehead this time, and a fan so I could cool down, and a water bottle... anyway, we played for a while. Got the usual people staring and saying stuff like "How do you know what to do and where to step?" and all. I even did a bunch of doubles, and pretty well at that... like B4U, Super Star, BaKkwo, and Brilliant2U. I r0x0r3d B2U and Super Star, doing lots of spins and crap. Oh, I also managed to do a few knee drops, but had a lot of trouble getting up from them. I also did a really cool set of spins and stomps at the end of Hypnotic Crisis, thanks to Angel. Oh yeah, Angel is REALLY good! He totally kicks ass. He did the first ever S4R I've seen in real life (Sudden Shuffle SSR, where SSR is the hardest level for a song). It was annoying because no matter how well he did, Sam kept making comments like "oh that's no big deal. *I* can do that!" and all. Except see, Sam looks like an injured monkey on crack, and Angel looks like a good dancer. Anyway... that's beside the point. Overall it was lots of fun. And afterwards we looked around the mall a bit. I bought some jellybeans and we went to the Halloween store, where I found a Sailor Moon costume, but it didn't fit. (Really. They have sizes "Standard" and "Large" and this one they only had in standard and it literally barely came down far enough to be decent. I guess I'm too tall) I ended up not buying anything from the Halloween store, sad as it is. So I still need to make a shopping trip elsewhere to look for halloween stuff. I guess I'm a little less inspired than I normally would be because I still can just be Emi, since I already have the costume and all...
Anyway, DDR is fun. The Beaver Valley Mall is pretty cool. I guess we probly won't go out there again unless CMU doesn't get a DDR machine in the next few weeks... and we're supposed to get one by the end of the semester...
Now I am home and will spend a nice evening laying down and continuing to recover from being sick and all. Yay.
