Games Day at Megan and Josh's house

Hmm, I can't decide if today convinced me more that moving here might be a good idea or not.

I played a whole lot of games. First was two games of Seafarers of Catan with Sean and Jeliza and Andy Presby (!!!) which were fun. I think I would buy Seafarers except that I just can't tell if people would want to play it enough to make it worth it. I mean, Carl owns Stadt&Ritter and how often do we play that? Anyway... we played that for a while, and then there was pizza dinner, and then there was Risk 2210 with Josh and Sean and this guy Dan. Risk 2210 is interesting - it does manage to take out a lot of the things that make normal Risk suck a lot - it has a time limit, there are only 5 rounds to it - but, there are all of these cards that make things both better and worse. I sort of got screwed over ish by some of the cards... also I did really really well on the first two rounds and as a result got totally plowed in the later parts of the game, and lost pretty horribly. (I hate when that happens... especially in new games... since I don't really understand what to do with my early power and all. I tried to act on the outside as if it was all ok and stuff, but I can't tell how good a job I did... I'm working on being a good loser :) )

Anyway, the upshot is, there were a lot of people here, and the were pretty cool, and I think if anything I was the one acting like a complete nerdy antisocial freak. I can't really tell. But, it was good to see Andy again, and to meet some of the gaming people out here, and to see Katy (Barbara's sister) and her boyfriend again and stuff. I suppose I wouldn't really have something quite like the cslounge if I was out here, you know, somewhere I could go just about any evening and say "hey, let's play Tigris or Siedler or something" but, I'd have some people sometimes to play games with, which is good.

Before gaming, Megan and I went shopping. We went to this huge supermarket which was like the size of the Waterfront Geagle, except that unlike the waterfront Geagle, they had three aisles of this supermarket which basically WERE supa-tokyo. No joke, I think this market had everything I've ever bought at Tokyo Food Store... all the sauces, and noodles, and candy, and so on... even they had the cookbooks and plates and dishes and all. Whee. We also went to a piano store, which I guess I don't know if I can mention here or not, but I'm betting it's ok. It was cool, I played on a really sweet electronic piano and it made me kind of wish I had my own... it also made me realize that shipping my piano across the country would really cost a shitload. Bleh. Anyway...

Oh yeah, it was cool, I finally got to meet one of Eli's college friends. He was pretty cool. It's just odd because most of the time we go places and I go "hey Eli meet 200 of my friends," and this time it was the other way around.

I suppose I should go sleep. It's now theoretically almost 6am pittsburgh time... also umm, happy birthday to [profile] buoren who is 4/6 and [personal profile] demonlurking who is 4/7 and welcome to [profile] lqiu and...
