8 hours to puzzle hunt

I'm at [profile] jeffford and [profile] jonobie's house. They were kind enough to let me crash here during Puzzle Hunt rather than figuring out ways to get back and forth across the big lake thing.

We had a pre-Hunt party here tonight of sorts -- it was half pre-Hunt and half stuff for Jason's birthday, since he turns Old this coming Monday. [profile] agh got him a Jeopardy-themed cake with a blue background and the clue "a cruciverbalist who has had forty great years", which was cute and delicious. We had about 2/3 of our PH team -- the Fords, Drew and Jason, me and Andy and Jamie and [profile] garzahd and Jen, plus Jen's husband, and also [personal profile] rupes, who actually gave me a ride here in the first place. (I guess we were missing Matt, Dave, and [profile] kamendae.)

Jeopardy is the theme for this puzzle hunt, so we were trying to do something related...

We watched a DVD of Jeopardy stuff, which included the first episode ever in 1984, which was really bizarre, and we saw some Ken Jennings highlights, and stuff like that. Apparently there were real interviews and whatnot too, but by that point I was downstairs playing Robo Rally with Drew and Andy and Jamie, which was a close game, and then played Tichu with Andy and Jamie and Lahut, while Drew and Jason and Jeff and Adam played Tichu at another table. Good times.

Just spent the last two hours talking to Lahut, because I hadn't seen him in forever, and he is also crashing at the Fords' place during PH. Good to catch up, maybe bad to waste potential sleep time the night before PH, but whatever. We brainstormed some ideas for what might come up at the Hunt, and then talked about games and languages for a long time.

Oh, after my last entry and before now, I did infact go get Chipotle for late lunch. It was awesome and I could finally chew by then. I also stopped by the post office as planned, and then also went to Safeway and got a bunch of snacks for PH, like cookies and granola bars and whatnot. Unfortunately I did a poor job of packing and so Adam had to wait for me for a bit when he came over... oh well, as it turns out we couldn't watch tonight's Jeopardy anyway, which is what I expected us to do exactly at 7 -- the Dish people and ABC aren't on the same terms out here, or something like that.

Ok, I better get to sleep, instead of sitting here reading the Jeopardy archive...
