Fanfest and Gamesfest and all
Today I woke up late and went down to Safeco for Fanfest. I begged Carl for a ride because I wanted to see the Mariners new GM, and it was 12:15 when I was leaving and he was talking from 12:30 to whenever. So. I got there, actually got autograph session tickets because they had them left, found Paul and Dave down by the dugout listening, and that was it for people I knew, which was dumb. We listened to GM Jack Zduriencik talking -- Paul asked him if he had a nickname we could use on the blogs because his name is too difficult to spell. Also, GM-Z had some great things to say, like "look, you're the fans... I know some people lose sight of this, but really, WE work for YOU. YOU pay us." He also had some funny Boras stories. And such.
We listened to Lee Tinsley talk for a bit, and then I went off to get food, and Paul and Dave decided to go home as they'd been at Safeco all day at that point. I hung out to watch Franklin Gutierrez and Aaron Heilman talk; I know nothing about Gutierrez but I've been a Heilman fan for quite some time, used to even have him on my fantasy team a few years ago, we got him in the Putz trade with the Mets and all. Anyway, they were both entertaining. Heilman's freaking adorable too, someone even said "You look like such a nice boy-next-door kind of guy... how exactly do you become a menace on the mound?" Seriously. ♥!
I walked around the stadium after the talk for old times sake, then went up to the Suite Level and got Heilman's autograph. I was just going to get my ticket signed but they had photo cards you could get instead, so I got one. Then... it was barely 3pm so I went up to the Terrace club for the Gutierrez signing session too and got another photo card there signed :) Score!
THEN, I achieved my fourth and final goal of the day by getting my photo with the Mariner Moose down in the Moose Den. (My goals were to see my friends, see Zduriencik, see Heilman, get a photo with the Moose. Seriously.)
So I went home after that, stopping in at the Mariner team store for a bit first. Yeah.
Got home, then a bit later
dvarin and I went up to Shoreline to
nykkel's house, for board games... been quite a long time since I'd been there. Was good to see people, especially
mwinzi, who I hadn't seen in forever even before I left, and of course
mightyflorist and
farren_bronaugh and
kickahaota.
First Carl and Farren and Nykkel and I played a game of Agricola, which Farren won; I really felt like I was making bad moves EVERY move I made, which was sad. The scores were like 29-24-24-22 or something. Then games resplit and I got to play Blue Moon City with Farren and Mwinzi, and Farren crushed us... I felt like I was way behind in the money race the whole time there too. Alas. It's okay though. It was just good to see everyone. We spent like an hour afterwards just chatting by the door... I feel like I don't know what stories I can tell though since I write so much about everything in my LJ to begin with.
Also, to DJ, this is Jero and you need to watch it. Yeah.
Carl and I came back here and umm... I logged into PP just to check stuff and got invited to come on a Cursed Islands run so I got Carl invited along so he could see it. The run itself wasn't so bad, but we lost a fight at the end and the stuff we got was kind of crappy, nothing exciting at all in the pile. Too bad. At least, however, we did NOT sink, so that was good.
Now it is 4am again and I am supposed to be heading east-side in the early afternoon tomorrow :) Oops...
