in chicago, it's cold

I'm in a cafe with INCREDIBLY SPOTTY WIFI here in Chicago. Sigh. It's getting kind of annoying (especially since I have to actually pay for a coffee or whatever and bug them for a promo code to use it at all).

But, yeah. After that last post, I got on a plane at the Pittsburgh airport, and we literally sat in the plane for about an hour and a half before actually taking off. They had to de-ice the plane twice and then wait for the runway to be unslippery enough for us to take off. So the plane left about 2 hours after schedule and got into Midway 2 hours after schedule. Benoit had seen it was a little delayed but not super-delayed and ended up waiting at the airport for quite a while. Oops.

We dropped my stuff off at his apartment and then went off to a board games night in some other part of town. There were about 10 people there. The host, Scott, is apparently a friend of [personal profile] cheerfulchaotic's who is a playtester/demomonkey for Rio Grande. So, we ended up playing a game of Alhambra with him (Benoit had insane luck and kept it rolling and won), and then after that there was a shift of games, and Benoit and I ended up playing Through the Desert with three other people, and then a game I forget the name of and am unwilling to websearch with this retarded wi-fi to find out, where you had to build huts and temples and towers and knock them out with volcanos on a 3-D terrain. I was very close to winning despite not knowing what I was doing.

I had a good time, though I am unlikely to see any of the people ever again except Stevie.

It is very cold here in Chicago. Seriously cold.

Benoit doesn't have internet at his house, which is why I'm at this cafe in the first place.

Hmm... I wonder if it's just the case that like, it's good internet for like 40 minutes then gets spotty for the last 20 minutes of the hour? or depending on packets? weird. I just bugged them for another code and things seem quite connected again, like they did when I first showed up.

Is this an Argo Tea cafe? I remember wireless being kind of spotty when tried using the network there before.

Istria, which has always worked well for *me*, except when it just flat out doesn't work. Maybe a train was going by overhead on the electric lines?
