Holy baseball games, batman
I spent the last few days working on a spreadsheet to tally some things about all the baseball games I went to this year.
I'll give you just a few numbers:
77 games attended, between minors, majors, college ball, etc. I didn't count two rainouts where the game was called before we went into the stadium, but did count one where I was IN the stadium for 2 hours for BP and the first inning before it got called)
Total price of the 77 games I attended: 170000 yen (avg: 2207 yen, like $22)
Total price I paid to attend these games: 82500 yen (avg: 1071 yen, like $10)
Number of games I paid 0 yen to attend: 28 (7 of which were free minor league games)
Fighters games: 26 (counting minors)
Marines games: 20 (also counting minors)
Baystars games: 15 (but I only cheered for them at 11)
Dragons games: 8 (and I only cheered for them at 6)
...Carp games: 1 (in Hiroshima. Man, I seriously neglected them)
Pitcher I saw start the most often: Lotte's Shunsuke Watanabe, 8 times
Runners-up: 5 times, Ryan Glynn.
(Technically, Kazuhito Tadano and Shaggy Shugo Fujii and Hiro-chan Kobayashi were also 5 but due to split-squad and rainouts, I'm not counting them)
Number of different stadiums: 17
Teams I saw home games of: 12/12 (yes, every major-league team in Japan)
Most I paid to attend a game not counting the Japan Series: 3000 yen
I went to 32 games alone. Technically, 40. (8 of them were, I went there alone without a distinct plan to meet up with anyone, but did end up finding people I knew so didn't sit alone. Actually there are probably even more than that, because I rarely ended up being REALLY alone in any outfield, one way or the other.)
42 Day games, 35 night games... makes sense since I had so many weekend and minor league games.
I could break it down a lot more but let's leave it there for now.
So as for the rest of today, I mentioned I went to the RTM for lunch, which was good, and in the evening I met up with
bk3c on the R5 train, and we went to the suburbs and ate Italian food and caught up, kind of, and it was good, and I miss Ben lots, but I should get to see him again Wednesday before he skips town, I hope.
Around 11:30pm I went down to the gym in the building and ran 20 minutes on the treadmill to counter the Italian food.
It's really late and I'm a dumbass. In like 5 hours I think the city will be nuts due to the Obama meeting but I might end up sleeping through it. Oops.
