yokohama rain
Went to Yokohama today. It rained, but that's ok. The Baystars got TRAMPLED 17-5 by the Swallows. There was no Takuro Ishii in the game so I'm sticking to that as my alibi for why they lost.
I swear to god the Baystars got exactly 4 hits off Masanori Ishikawa in the first 7 innings and they were ALL SOLO HOME RUNS. Aikawa, then Murata, then Takehiro Ishikawa, then Yoshimura. I was filming Yoshimura's at-bat in the 7th inning just to get video of us cheering in the rain and he went and hit that homerun. It was T.Ishikawa's first pro homerun and get this, a guy caught the ball two rows in front and 5 seats over from where I was sitting. Holy shit! Anyway, an usher comes over and asks him for the ball, which really surprised me since you can usually keep home run balls, but it turns out Ishikawa-player really WANTED his first homerun ball. So, the guy who caught the home run ball ended up receiving a signed ball from Ishikawa in exchange for the homerun ball. Cool, huh?
I talked to Sign Guy outside the stadium before the game for a bit. He's so funny.
After the game, also, the guys sitting down the row from me, one of them was like "I know you! I've seen you here before, you always write a scorecard but sometimes in a little notebook instead?" and I was like "Yeah, I forgot the scorecard that day..." He said that it was really strange and memorable to see a foreign girl, left-handed, alone, cheering, and keeping a scorecard, so he remembered me. Anyway, when they found out my name is Deanna, which sounds like "diana" in Japanese, which is the name of the Yokohama cheer girl unit, they flipped out. I gave the one guy, Ikeda, my fake meishi card, and he was like "I'll email you! Then next time I can cheer with Deanna!"
Yeah.
Oh, and before the game started, when I was looking for a seat, I actually saw some foreigners and asked if I could sit with them and they were kinda like "uhh... like no... our row is totally full..." Whatever. It worked out ok that I sat where I did, even though I had a few Japanese language mistakes, the other people I was around were really nice.
I need to do laundry. I hope it's sunny tomorrow afternoon so I can hang things out to dry.
Also fuck it's September! I can't believe the baseball season is almost over :(
I guess there's... well, there's baseball through this month, the postseason next month and also college ball. And there's fanfests in November, and Master's League, but oh, I can't believe it's ending so soon :(
I need a Baystars icon. Maybe a can has be Kizuka tiem plz icon or whatever.
