A Stitch in Time Saves Ninety [photopost for [profile] muppetaphrodite]

This afternoon I went down to the immigration office in Shinagawa and applied to renew my visa. It took around 4 hours total, which mostly consisted of a 40-minute train ride, 10-minute bus ride, then filling out a form and then sitting there and waiting for 70 minutes, and the remaining time was spent getting kaitensushi to chill out afterwards.

That is boring.

So let me tell you instead about my collection of Stitches that have come out of UFO catchers. It has gotten so big they no longer fit on the top of my bookcase at GEOS:

The second Monochrome Stitch was my most recent addition. She's too big to sit on the top, so I moved her down with Sheep Stitch.

These are three of my favorites, in front: Stitch dressed up as Mickey Mouse, Stitch dressed up as a Toy Story alien, and Mickey Mouse dressed up as Stitch.

These came out of a UFO catcher that was OBNOXIOUS to figure out, in Warabi. But one day they set it so 100 yen was 2 plays and it took me about 300 yen to finally get the trick down and snag two of them. They are so cute and ducky! And are sitting on top of these Pokemon cars I got out of a UFO catcher in Kawaguchi ages and ages ago.

Cherry Stitch?

Shiny Stitch came from the catcher in Sakuragicho. Soft Stitch came from Ikebukuro. Sleepy Stitch came from the arcade next to the Tokyo Dome.

This is Super Stitch. He dangles from a string and flies around the room.

There's more, notably Elephant Stitch and Bunny Stitch, but whatever. They are crowding the Non-Stitches out of house and home -- basically Pooh and Kitty and Doraemon and An-Pan-Man and Mickey have been forced into a corner.

The best is this one kid student of mine who looks at everything, yells "KAWAIIIII" a bazillion times, then looks at me and asks in Japanese, "Do you like Stitch?"

I so want your Stitch dolls. I have a new quest now, for when I eventually have enough money to visit Japan: visit all the UFO catchers and find me as many Stitches as possible. =)

*wibbles* I only have six Stiches.

I'm sensing an addiction! XD

I love the sheep Stitch!

My UFO catcher resume:

- Stewie (Family Guy) doll
- ~100,000,000 yen in play money

... that's it.

...Wow. I am glad I have an appropriate icon to commemorate this post.

Sheep Stitch is cute, as is Mickey Stitch. All are super-cute, but those stuck out to me.

I am SO lucky I am not confronted by this number of Pika varieties.

The one on the very top of the bookshelf... is that a Hello Stitch?

Ship them to me!

If you send Stitch by sea, it can't be that that expensive, can it? =)

Awwwww I love Stitch. And you should definitely see Lilo and Stitch.

They are oddly cute, though I'm still not a fan. ^^;

This one time, when I was living in Japan, I went to the movies.. to see Lilo and Stitch. There was a GIGANTIC Stitch sitting out in the lobby but I couldn't figure out how to steal it. I mean, as a gaijin, I'd already be conspicuous, but carrying a giant blue alien would probably have just caused them to ask me if that was my brother.

Have any of your Stitches ever been sufficiently timely to save nine?

[identity profile] nppyinzer.livejournal.com 2008-07-09 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You should send a message to Robyn; she said something a while ago about how we should make you get a Stitch for Jack, since he seems to like the movie.

And if I'd ever seen a Stitch dressed up like the three-eyed aliens from Toy Story, I'd agree with you.
