Welcome to Deanna's brain

So there's been this series of live concerts on Channel 6 late at night. I turn on the TV and there's Seamo singing "Lupin the Fire". I have the feeling that brain processes are supposed to go something like:

Average-gaijin: WTF is this crap? [turns off TV]
Jpop-fan-gaijin: Oh, cool, Seamo! (Or perhaps "Oh, great, Seamo. [turns off TV]")
Anime-fan-gaijin: Hey, it's Lupin the Fire!

However:

Deanna-gaijin: Dude! That's Yoshinobu Takahashi's at-bat music!!!

Right. So anyway, I apparently am now allowed back into the country when I leave, which is good. I still don't have travel plans to Hokkaido, though, and my students recommend I do something about that QUICK. According to the JAL pamphlet I picked up in the station, it seems like if I fly to Sapporo and stay in a hotel for 2 days starting on May 2, it'll cost 52,300 yen total, but if I fly to Sapporo and stay in a hotel for 3 days starting on May 1, it'll cost 46,800 yen total. Given I want to be there for the 2-3-4, that seems like the latter is a better idea, it gives me more time to actually see Sapporo besides baseball. I'm a little worried about whether I'll be able to negotiate with the travel agents at the View Plaza in Japanese, but I'll give it a try tomorrow or Friday.

I played another game of Pop'n 16 tonight at Kawaguchi. Tentaikansoku kicked my ass on hyper (level 27). I can't help but wonder if they've redone the levels yet again.

Ishikawa Ryo threw out the ceremonial first pitch today for the Sox-A's game (60mph fastball -- not bad for a 16-year-old golfer), and that got more coverge on the Japanese news than Rich Harden actually throwing baseballs and winning a game and not injuring himself in the process.

I want to go to Nagoya/Osaka this weekend. I wish I could justify the train ticket cost. (This could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the Koshien tournament...)
