My Little Monsters - Halloween 2007
No time to really explain this one, since my network was hosed last night and I was working on baseball stats anyway and now I have to go back to work for my early start Saturday...
For Halloween, I had to teach a Halloween lesson to my 8-year-olds. Some of them brought costumes and I wasn't really sure how I was going to fill a lesson. I asked my trainer K what to do, and he suggested "Hey, why not have them make some Halloween crafts? Kids love drawing, they can make your lobby into a haunted house or something."
So, I went to Daiso and bought a whole bunch of art supplies, and then I taught them the words "pumpkin", "skeleton", "bat", "ghost", and "witch". And then we spent an hour cutting up stuff. Amazingly, they even were happy and proud to put the things they made on my classroom walls/door, so that managed to accomplish TWO things at once: one, I had a really peaceful kids' class, without them running around and screaming, and two, now I have Halloween decorations!
