Wow! So now I have a certificate saying that the Japanese government recognizes that I knew enough Japanese to pass the level 3 proficiency test. Whee!

Dammit, where is Carl... I owe him a lunch.
note ten minutes later: Carl also passed! he passed the harder level than me, with an even higher percentage. yay!

and, actually, i don't know what it means either. i can put it on my resume, certainly, in addition to "four semesters of japanese", and maybe it'll help if i ever want to find a job using my japanese skills. or something...

You know, Seattle has a large Japanese population. We also have a very large Japanese contingent in our baseball team, a sister city in Japan, and a lot of Japanese business connections. Seems like Seattle might be a good place to look for a job that needs Japanese language skills.

We also have a world class university (according to the web page, anyway), and lots of high tech.
