Things I discovered today
In no particular order:
1) Apple ice cream is really fucking weird (but not weird enough that I won't eat it)
2) Omiya is awesome! Well, for Saitama, anyway. There are stores and restaurants and a gigantic Book-Off and whatnot. (I found one of the arcades
seishinbyou told me about but I got lost trying to find the others. Oh well.)
2a) In true Konami style, they apparently have a Japan Series or some sort of nationwide arcade competition for Baseball Heroes. And said arcade -- Big Apple in Omiya -- has a pennant flag from said championship. Holy shit.
3) Spitz is awesome (well, I knew that, but I know that even more now. Carl would be all like "omg! polyphonic harmony!")
4) Lotteria apparently only had the Bobby Burger as a limited time item :(
5) I am the only person living in my apartment building currently... of the four units, mine is the only one with the gas currently turned on, anyway.
6) The Omiya Book-Off closes at 10pm, not 11 as listed on the website.
7) Sitting at GEOS all day by myself sort of sucks :(
I have hot water again. Thank god. The repairman showed me how to reset it if it's just a simple issue of the gas being turned off. I hope that never happens again though.
Omiya Book-Off is huge. I saw many things I'd consider getting before I heard them suddenly saying things like "We're closing in 10 minutes, so buy your crap and leave", or the polite equivalent thereof in Japanese. I got the Spitz 1991-1997 singles album I wanted to get in the first place, AND I got the Nippon Ham Fighters 2006 Championship DVD! For 1500 yen! I knew that if I waited long enough I wouldn't regret not spending $50 on it last year. I also got the Chunichi Dragons 2006 DVD for 500 yen :)
I ended up getting a burger and fries at Lotteria. There was a Bobby Valentine placemat about some Marines-Lotteria deal. So that made me decide to check tomorrow's starting pitchers and the Marines starter is SHUNSUKE WATANABE :( I had sort of decided not to do baseball tomorrow -- Tokyo Dome and Jingu are sold out, and Chiba is at 1pm, AND the Tokyo Game Show is going on right near the stadium, so I figure it'd be a nightmare going around there, but... but... Shunsuke Watanabe! Waaaaaah. I have no right to whine that I never see him pitch live if I don't go to the game when he's the starter, but... I really feel like it's a bad idea to go to Chiba tomorrow, it'd essentially shoot the entire day and I am going there next week anyway.
I sort of want to go somewhere tomorrow. I am seriously considering Odaiba, just because I've never been there. I also sort of want to go watch Hero, but I'm a little scared of riding my bike down Sangyo Doro, and a little bit scared of my Japanese listening ability. Maybe I can see it at Odaiba if I go. Eh, we'll see.
