ugh packing.

Well, my carry-on is just about packed... I basically worried about it first. I have the grey suit, two button-down shirts, jeans and a t-shirt, underwear/socks/etc for three days, my heels, travel-size toiletries, etc in there. The idea is that I'm not going to touch it at all when I'm in Vancouver, but it's what I may need in Japan my first few days in case anything goes wrong with my checked bags.

I'm working on packing my checked bags, but I've acquired a whole lot of stuff these last few days to pack (both clothing and massive amounts of toiletries/medicine/etc), got to figure out an efficient way to do it. Can't fit all of my suit stuff in the garment bag, either.

I spent all day today either packing or dealing with administrivia. I cancelled my car insurance, called Comcast to talk about switching our cable service to Zach's name (it's dumb, he has to go in in person and sign over the receiver and modem before they'll switch it), confirmed with the gym that I have cancelled my membership properly and owe them no money, and CRAP I forgot to call my cellphone carrier, I'll have to do that in a bit. I also went to the bank to get traveller's checks and ask some questions about remote accessing stuff, and it seems like things will be okay.

Weird thing happened with my credit card company. I went to sign on to use online reporting for that too, and it asked me whether I wanted online statements for my credit CARDS, showing two card numbers. I swear that I was not aware I had a second card with them, so I was pretty freaked out and called them up to ask about it. Seems that when I opened my Visa card many many years ago, they also somehow opened a Mastercard for me. The guy was even like "This card's never been used, we declared it inactive several years back," and I'm like "I have never even HEARD of this other card, nor received it, so I'd really like it if it could disappear, please," so they took care of that, hopefully. Very freaky. Good thing I caught this all before leaving the country.

I got a call from GEOS just to confirm that I'll be there Monday morning at 8:30 (yikes) and to make sure I knew what to bring. Turns out I have to make MORE lesson flashcardy things. Yargh. I'll have to actually finish making them when I'm in Canada, I think.

Anyway, I stopped at Bartell's to get some makeup (ewww) and some more medicine/toiletries/etc, and continued working on packing stuff. I managed to put together one big box of baseball card stuff, and one of my sub-boxes didn't fit, so hopefully my gracious card-sink will take this one off my hands too if I see him tomorrow. Carl came over in the evening and despite that he started the evening by just making fun of me and playing Warcraft, we went to Ivar's for dinner and he started helping out afterwards and by the end of the evening he'd helped empty out two of my bookcases and distill my papers into recyclables/etc. He's really my bestest friend ever, I swear.

My back hurts.

Back to some more packing, then sleep, then packing, then...
