First bug report!
Some of you know that I have an uncanny knack for picking out discrepancies in baseball history when reading books, and debunking various myths, and whatnot. So of course, this is an email exchange between me and Derek today:
Me: "Yay, Derek, thank you for sending me a copy of your book! I will read it and review it and pimp it ASAP."
Derek: "Woohoo. Let me know what you think."
Me: [after getting off the bus, having read the first few chapters] "Well, uh, you have a mistake on page 19. See, you talk about Babe Ruth getting pissed off at Emil Bossard for fucking up the outfield, but you also say that Bossard wasn't a groundskeeper in Cleveland until 1936. Babe Ruth stopped playing in the AL after the 1934 season."
Derek: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
Derek: "I have a lame excuse to placate you that has to do with Bossard probably groundskeeping for the Toledo Mud Hens in 1914 when Ruth played for the Providence Grays."
Me: "1914 my ass, he was a pitcher then."
Derek: "Yeah, I am just stalling. Here, I wrote an errata entry on the book blog."
Me: "Yeah, I'm sorry. I didn't know if I should tell you. I don't know if most other people would also immediately do the math and figure that one out, or if I'm just weird."
Derek: "No, you should tell me these things. Man, it's a shame I didn't have you around as a fact-checker."
Me: "No problem, when your book gets on the best-selling list and the publishers are clamoring for more, you can sign me up to help check your next book!"
Also, I am REALLY FUCKING BITTER that Yahoo won't broadcast streaming video of today's games outside of Japan. So fuck this, I'm going to ballroom instead of watching Opening Day. I'm really bitter. I wanted to see Kazumi Saitoh pitch a perfect game against Orix, and for Yu Darvish to beat the Marines for the first time in a home opener since 1982, and...

Still, games going on and not being able to watch my darling Fighters makes Deanna something something.

I feel terrible saying that, but, if they're going to be the only team I can actually watch this year it's going to be hella hard to continue being a diehard Fighters fan.
also, Tsuyoshi Wada is hot :)
