Snow day

It's not so bad in the city, but buses were super-delayed and most of our group wasn't in the office, so I decided to work at home today.

I was supposed to go to dinner in Pioneer Square tonight with [profile] hhd and Jamie K Chang Esquire Trombone (yes, that's still the string that my brain comes up with to identify him), but instead, they came to Ballard to see the locks in the afternoon and we went to lunch. Tried the Puerto Rican restaurant near 24th and Market, and had an empanada, which was basically like a mexican samosa, or something. Was good to catch up with Heather and Jamie and find out what the hell they've been up to and all.

Did work, and stuff. We had our Thursday 2pm meeting over the phone, which was sorta weird. I am working on some stuff with Perl forking and it's making my head hurt. How is it possible that I used to teach high school students to write parallel Fortran and C++ code, yet I'm having trouble with fork processes in Perl now? Maybe I'm just rusty. At least I haven't taken down our group's server yet :)

Carl, who seems to have given up on his WoW guild's Thursday night raid, showed up here around 7:30pm. We ended up going to Blue C in Fremont, because I wasn't too hungry after snacking all day at home, but, hey, sushi. Now I'm back up here working on some frivolous stuff, and he and Zach are watching some episodes of Angel.
