carnival end
Hey, I'm going to try to do a braindump while I am here in the Pittsburgh airport using their free wireless for like the next 15 minutes or so. I did run into Cindy Davis, who used to live next door to me in Morewood, and she reminded me that I didn't actually see tg2k and I feel a little bad about that. Carnival timing. Bleh.
Anyway, yesterday was Saturday. Benoit picked me up in the morning and we went out to Karen Van Dusen and Pete Su's house, in the north hills, for a CS-zephyr brunch. Attendees included Karen and Pete and their son Kai, Bridget Spitznagel and her son Sean and her new daughter Elizabeth, me and Benoit, Shafeeq, Mahim (Eli's old officemate), Tom Ault, Gary.. er, gap+, I forget his last name, Jonathan Hardwick, and eventually Corey Kosak. In his normal style, Kosak didn't show up until Shafeeq and Benoit and I were leaving, so we only got to chat with him for a minute. Anyway, it was good to see people and eat some breakfasty food and see kvd's awesome new kitchen which is not so new anymore but was new to me -- and people's kids, and even to see Tomault playing with the kids, which was a surprise that he'd be so good at it. I took a few pictures, Pete took a ton, I'm sure they'll be online eventually for Stewart.
Then we went to the Lounge BBQ, where I saw ninety billion people. Ifinally found jcreed, and rjmccall, and saw christine and dracai and dkitchin and Charlie and Joanna and also Alan and rlj and vince and scott and allwein and the shadyhouse guys, and emilie and benoit and Nick and rem and bolson and Jensen and his son Justin, oh and Nat and his wife and their PUPPY who is really 11 years old, and Becca (who graduated from the law program my sister-in-law is in, isn't that weird?) and Neal and Christina and Arne and I'll have to edit in LJ names later as I remember people. I ate some food and hung out for a while mostly. It was raining but that doesn't stop the grill, if you know what I mean.
Afterwards, Benoit and Emilie and Mark and Nick and Carl and I ended up at Benoit's place in Squirrel hill, where all of us except Nick played BRitish Rails. Also, I actually WON THE GAME. This is because I built to Scotland first and kept running Jute down the country and then tourists and fruit back up to Perth and Stranraer. Whee. Emilie actually tried to stop me from running Jute late in the game when I had 209 in money and a 44 contract for Jute -- and basically, if she'd switched anything at all I would just pounce on it and drive it down to Hereford, so she stopped. Whee.
Then after that, we called Trey, and then Trey and Carl and Mark and Nick and I went to Del's for dinner!!!!! finally, I had my eggplant. It was awesome and I split it with Nick.
Afterwards we went to the Wightman community center for swing dancing, ostensibly at least. Most of what I remember being really fun was getting to do cha-cha with Neal, and viennese waltz with Trey, and some latin dancing with Mark, and finally actually GETTING to dance with Nick, and doing funny slow bouncy swing dancing with Eric. I saw Dave Mcwherter but didn't actually manage to speak or dance with him. Oh, I danced with Emilie, too, which was pretty funny. Joanna also was there but I didn't dance with her. Afterwards, all of us went over to Gullifty's for dessert, where we were joined by Christina and Arne. I was tired and my feet hurt but at least I got more time to hang out with people and to pick on Eric.
But I pretty much came home and crashed dead at 2am after talking to Carl for a bit.
This morning we got up and I packed some, and then we went to lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse with Django, Konstantin, Matt, Lu, and Deryck. Mmmm, more italian food. It was good to see those guys before I ditched town since I hadn't really since Wednesday's WoW game. (though I figured that'd happen.)
We got back like 2:30, I finished packing, and Carl walked me to the bus stop, and now here I am at the airport. It seems that it's about time for me to hop on a plane, so I guess I'll next be updating from Seattle (well, I have a connectioni n Philly but it's short). I'll also edit in LJ names and make this entry more coherent, but I wanted to braindump before I got on the plane. Arr. Oh, maybe I should buy a steelers shirt while I'm here too to piss off Seattle people. We'll see if there's time.
bye for now,
