These knees were meant for walkin'

Today I went for lunch at Yumwok with [profile] ketsugami, [personal profile] harinezumi, and [profile] cyfis, which was nice. I love this whole "My brain hurts, Cobol sucks, I think I'll go see on AIM whether anyone is around to go get lunch with" thing where I can actually find people. I walked back to campus with Django and hung around a little while chatting, and then walked to the UC and got a plain CMU t-shirt for Oren, and a CMU vball shirt for me. The bad part is, I looked for a replacement for my sweatshirt jacket which is falling apart, and there's just nothing that's really like it, nor any jackets I'd even want to wear. I'm hoping they'll get in more by later in the week for Carnival.

I sat outside the Purnell center and called my dad back. Whoosh. I debated going into UCC and looking for [personal profile] blk or anyone, but then realized that the whole second-floor-security thing always throws me off. Oh well. Also, I had a headache.

So I came back here and took an aspirin and sat around trying to do work for a few hours, and then around 6pm I walked over to [profile] bhudson and [profile] csg87's place. Now let me tell you something. It is a much longer walk than I thought it was. I took the most direct route, and that still took me about 35 minutes to walk it -- and keep in mind, a good half of that walk is uphill, if not more. So, I arrived at the house pretty exhausted. But that's ok. I got to hang out talking to Benoit for a while, which was cool. Charlie got home an hour later with his girlfriend Joanna, and a little while later, [profile] nickjong arrived ("You're not Carl!") and a minute after that, Carl arrived ("You're not Nick!").

We went to Chaya for dinner -- and really, really lucked out that they had one table open in the place and it was a 5-person table. Whew. Chaya is the little Japanese restaurant in Squirrel Hill which is actually *good*, but when I say it's little, it's *little*. Carl and I ordered a ton of food together and split it, like tempura and some sushi and some appetizers and whatnot. Charlie and Joanna split a sushi boat, and Nick had tenzaru, otherwise known as "that dish Carl convinces people to order so he can watch them drip zarusoba sauce all over themselves", but Nick did pretty well with it.

After dinner we walked back to the house and played Set and a little bit of bridge, and hung out, and then Carl and I had to start our long long journey back home here. So in all, I shouldn't feel bad about not doing gym stuff this week. I walked a good 6 miles today alone, I think.

Oh! Also I saw [profile] visionline for like 2 seconds this morning as he drove past me on Morewood and waved, and I also saw [profile] anukul and [profile] danitapgh as we were walking back from Chaya. Anu had a Mets shirt on which was sort of funny since I had just been consoling Nick about how the Braves were up 7-1. Fantasy baseball really makes my head hurt. A lot.

I took some pictures today, of various buildings around here like the new building at Fifth and Craig. I still haven't gotten the one at Forbes and Murray though.

Okay, tired. I should sleep. Nick and I are going to the Pirates game tomorrow afternoon wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Then no more baseball this trip. No, really. They're not in town this weekend. :)

Hey, y'know, if you're around again and feeling intimidated, you could just AIM up (or call up, x84941) and I'd be happy to come down and hang out or at least escort you past the security. :)

If you want to try finding me first, I'm downstairs on the first floor in 162 - look back by the bathrooms, I'm in the alcove near the men's bathroom at the back of the building. There are maps on the walls. We could then walk up together to get blk, since I know where she is and you'd be with me.

I need an excuse to get out for lunch today, anyway. Feel free to give me one.

My brain hurts, Cobol sucks,

As a guy who had to take 3 trimesters of Cobol in college, I agree completely with the above statement. Cobol definitely sucks.

Hey, I'll be around campus tomorrow afternoon (Thursday). Email should work (Bryan set me up with temporary access to CMU wifi).
