I just have one thing to say:

If I had a nickel for every single person who told me in the last month that there was no way in hell Japan would make the finals, let alone win the whole thing, I'd have enough money to buy them all a TROPHY-SIZED CUP OF SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Ogasawara didn't hit me a homer after all, but he did have 3 RBI, all without actually getting a hit. I guess I'll take that. Woo. GO JAPAN!

(...I still think Matsunaka or Tamura or Ogasawara should have been MVP though, or Uehara if they were going to pick a pitcher, but I'm weird like that)

I kinda wanted the finals to be the US beating Cuba, because I have these odd moments of blind stupid nationalistic chest-thumping, but in lieu of the US, I'll happily take Japan.

I think it started out that way, but somewhere along the line, baseball fans realized, "Holy shit! There's real honest-to-god baseball on TV! It's not just spring training!"

Of course, then they started playing the ESPN Announcer Drinking Game and it all went downhill.
