I decided that I'm going to attempt to subtitle the episode of Furuhata Ninzaburo with Ichiro in it. I'm not sure why I decided on this; it's not like I have any experience with fansubbing things or even like I'm really that great at Japanese, but it seemed like it'd be a fun learning project and even more applicable to listening practice. I've done about 6 minutes of it so far; only 84 to go! (Right now I'm just making an .srt file for it.) I'm not sure what I'll do if there are long parts of conversation I don't understand entirely. So far I've been filling in stuff from context when there's a word or two I don't quite catch. We'll see if I really continue with it. I dunno. I just think there are people who would want to see the episode because of Ichiro, but who don't understand Japanese, and I haven't seen anyone out there working on it.

Anyway, I worked on that until I went to volleyball this afternoon. While I'm a little worried about my arm -- it felt a little painful towards the end of playing, though it doesn't seem so bad now -- I really had fun. See, the thing about playing volleyball, especially when we only have 2-3 people per side, is that I really feel like an *athlete*. I run around a lot and hustle and hit and hone my reflexes, and when I'm playing well, it really is the best feeling in the world.

After volleyball, I stopped by Chipotle for a (barbacoa beef) burrito; I'm still amused by balancing a diet. Then I watched the third episode of H2~君といた日々, which is a dorama about a high school baseball club aspiring to go to Koshien. It's amazingly good. Despite it being mostly about the guys in the baseball club, I think the two main female characters are the strength of the show; Hikari wants to be a sportswriter, and Haruka is completely obsessed with baseball (there's a great scene where you see her room for the first time and her entire bookcase is filled with sports-related manga like Dokaben). Also saw the first episode of Brother Beat, which so far seems to be another one of these "eldest brother complex" shows, but this one seems less depressing than Summer Snow, so far at least.

Also, yeah, I stayed up until 4am to see the end of the Japan-Korea baseball game. Korea won, amazingly. Seung-Yeop Lee is going to be the bane of my existence since leaving Lotte, I swear.

Zach left this morning to go back to Austin, but he and Mindy will be back here in a few months, so it's okay.

I was behind a motorcycle on the road heading home from Chipotle and it had a license plate frame that said "Cogito Ergo Zoom".

I wish I could figure out what things I need to do before my trip to Vegas next weekend, if anything. I think I need to hunt down the new Baseball Prospectus books to read on the plane, but that's about all I can think of offhand. I'm really sort of worried about the trip in general, though in the past, the trips I worry the most about tend to go well, and the trips I think will be great tend to have problems, so who knows.
