games day down in tacoma

Whee, today was pretty good. I watched half a round of the Cnossos blockade, then picked up [profile] tenshiemi and headed down to Tacoma. We went to [profile] wooko and [profile] damienroc's apartment... Wooko headed out before we did, and Jeff and Emi and I ended up getting Mexican food for dinner. It was really good. Then we went to [profile] islandergirlro's apartment for games night. When we got there, Wooko was teaching Ro and Brien and (oh crap, I'm not sure I caught his name, was it Travis?) to play Spree, which is a Cheapass game I hadn't seen before. So Jeff and Emi and I decided to play too. It was actually, like, fun. (I don't generally like Cheapass games - a lot of the recent batch suffered from lack of playtesting.) Emi won, mostly by Jeff shooting himself, and her scooting over and stealing all his cards.

After that, [profile] theonlymegumegu and Eric showed up, and Alan, so we played a pretty big game of Apples to Apples, which Wooko won, mostly because he (correctly) surmised that I actually play the game straight as a judge, and so he got two cards off me judging. I got lousy cards the entire time and thus only won like one card. I really do dislike A2A as a game, but I will play it... though I think the expansions are a bit too much. They dilute the interesting and fun card supply.

A girl whose name I only caught as "Stuff" showed up after that, and we all split into two games. Jeff and Emi and Alan and I played Citadels, and most of the rest of the gang played Risk: New World Domination. Which is just Risk with special cards. Wooko swears it makes the game better, but I swear, I walked up to the table and saw Eric lose a battle that was heavily weighted in his favor, due to stupid d6 rolls. So. It's still Risk... just Risk with Stuff. An' I don't mean the person.

Anyway, Citadels was fun. Jeff and I tied EXACTLY, down to the wire -- 30 points each, no remaining gold. Heh. We played Buried Treasure after that, which I lost terribly, and I can't even remember who won.

At that point it was almost midnight and I still had to drive Emi home, so we left. Whee. Drove home. Concluding yet another trip to Tacoma that did not involve going to Narrows. Dammit!

There is a huge storm going on, so even though I want to be asleep, I'm not, because it's too loud, and my sleep schedule is too wrecked. Sigh.

(I haven't written much about the last two days either, I guess. Not much to say, really. Thursday was D&D, and Megan made lasagna, and our group beat up some drow, and Friday I didn't do much of anything. I got tax forms and stopped by Half Price, and talked to a job recruiter and some other random stuff. I got to pretend to be a member of Orange Revolution for their crew portrait in PP. That was fun.)
