I won an Iron Dragon game!

Well, I went to sleep around 11:30pm Sunday night, and I got up at like 1pm today. I really needed the sleep, since I didn't sleep all weekend :)

I spent the afternoon trying to make plans for the evening, while gunning for a pillage on PP. The nice thing about gunning is that I actually CAN do other things at the same time, but I am actually pretty useful because of my s00per gun skill.

After lots of phone calls and confusion, my plan ended up being going out to Microsoft and playing Iron Dragon with [profile] agh, mlahut, and [profile] bpr. I picked up Matt, we found Brian, and then we took over a conference room in Drew's building, ordered some pizza, and drew some trains. We were playing with trains at 1.5x speed. And I started the game in an odd way... My first three contracts were Jewelry to Bremmner, Wands to Izyndyl, and Cattle to Eaglehawk. Well, anyone who's played the game knows that those are verrrrrra far apart. Mt first 3 turns of building, I built track from Bluefeld to Bremmner to Bulatz, and the ports on both sides; Wikkedde to West Wyckk (or Wyrre, which ever is closer, I forget), Octomare to its port, Eaglehawk to Izyndyl, and upgraded my train to 10/3. Then I took the weefolk and boated a lot. It felt really like I was very far behind everyone because they were getting 1.5x movement on trains, and I kept ending turns to get on and off ships (I started in Wyrre with jewelry, shipped from Wikkedde to Octomare to get wands, then Octomare to Bulatz. I dropped off the jewelry in Bremmner, got cows in Bulatz, and got back on a ship, where I sat for the next five turns until I hit Izyndyl. Dropped off the wands, next turn dropped off the cattle, and had picked up a contract for armor to Eabannet, so... here I found myself, everyone else had a whole buncha track, and I had no track, but I did have 150 in cash to work with. So I started building the trans-continent line from Eaglehawk, and hoped to catch up to everyone... the thing is, from that point on I was basically playing the game as normal, except I never had cash issues, and I just kept pressing contracts and pressing at connecting cities. I skipped Kola, and eventually somehow ended up with 250 cash. We were counting Event setbacks on the board, and Matt got set back more than anyone, and I came in second there.

There were a LOT of events though. Matt drew four in a row at one point. And both Drew and Brian tried to set me back at the end by just drawing new contracts. Brian did infact draw War Tax, but it put me to 208, and I delivered a contract for 45.

So, woooo. I won a train game!

Came home and have been playing spades with Weaver as we push to try desperately to get our Ultimate.

I have started writing up Puzzle Hunt, but there is just SO MUCH to it that it's tough to do. Hopefully I will finish tomorrow. I also hopefully will see more of [profile] mj2q, as I basically only saw him for like 20 minutes at the tail end of the games party at M&J's last night -- I stopped by, but having not really slept in 36 hours at that point made it sort of hard to really do much of anything.

Yeah.
