My weekend
Friday at work I finally got the build to work on a Moxi box! Except like... we figured out around 2pm that my BOX didn't work, then at 2:30 that my BUILD didn't work, so I had to rebuild. It took 2.5 hours. I fell asleep on a couch at work for half an hour in that time. I got the build working, got a loaner box working, and BOOM! I could watch TV! Wheee! Of course, by the time this was all done it was like 6:30pm on Friday. So I watched the Mariners pregame and edited the docs on getting the stuff set up.
Went to Whole Foods, grabbed dinner, went home for PP OCL match, and hung out on PP all night. Yar. I love Whole Foods. It's so damn good. What more could you want from a supermarket than Jamba Juice and tasty salads and food bars?
Saturday I overslept the Cranberry blockade for the most part. Eli and I were going to the Mariners-Red Sox game and I was meeting him at Northgate at 6pm. The thing is, I wanted to go for a walk... it seemed silly, with 3 hours, to spend an hour walking around Greenlake and then go off to the game... So I walked to Northgate from home. It's about 3 miles. It's a good walk.
Eli and I went to the game. It was fun. I wore a Jamie Moyer shirt, and after the first inning rooted for the Red Sox. They won. It was kinda funny commenting on it all. "Hey Jamie." "Hey Dan, what's up?" "I hate to break it to you, dude, but you'll be pitching to the Red Sox lineup all night. You gotta throw them some strikes. They'll pound some for home runs. It's Manny freaking Ramirez, y'know?" As a result Eli forwarded me later the U.S.S. Mariner (and more specifically Mound Conference Theater which is one of the funniest things I have ever read). Hee. Anyway it was a good game. Ichiro didn't get any hits, and the Red Sox pounded the Mariners. On the other hand the Mariners pitchers got 9 strikeouts and we didn't get any free 2-liters. Grr! Even counting the one where Jason Varitek struck out but advanced on a wild pitch... (which I hadn't seen in AGES!), we should have had 8. Stupid Safeco.
There was a lot of Sept 11th stuff going on at Safeco before the game. It was kinda neat and kinda a bit much in-your-face. They took down all the pennants and made them into half-mast american flags.
Went home, did PP stuff and my laundry, whee. Turns out that the "m.article.torso.jerkin" actually DOES exist... Kui and Chern and Markozeta and I had won one the other day, well mark did, but he thought he didn't have anything. Turns out it has an invisible icon. So Lily came across one and all hell broke loose :) Mark sold his to Maxdemian for 15k and Chern and I started hunting skellies, which didn't go smashingly well, but was kinda fun, and we met this psycho skellie-hunting chick. I got a nice red/black skull dagger out of it which I sold to
arya.
Sunday, I woke up to more PP drama. Complicated came back and made Righty the captain of BD and now we're gonna have to deal with the shop deeds and bleh. I told Complicated that I would settle it with Righty. Llyr's Pact had a crew meeting and most of the crew didn't attend, which was also sad. But eh. On the other hand, Lilymorgan and Devonin had their wedding and I got to be in it, and Rifkind even came back for it, and there was a super SFing tourney afterwards that I really enjoyed and I had a great match against wossname Randal I think. Oh, I am 9th in the top ten in SFing ocean-wide right now :) I logged out to avoid more drama and went to Eli's.
Eli had his 31st birthday party today, even though his birthday was a month ago. It was a BBQ up on the roof of his apartment building. I showed up around 7pm which I guess was late, but oops. Most of the HoS people were there (Megan, Josh, Cory, Heidi), and Katy and Seth were there, and Sean (McGuire), and Deb and Mike, and other people most of whose names I don't actually know who are part of the Kylee-Wim group I think or something. Anyway, there is a nice view from the roof, and it was good to catch up with people and see everyone's new haircuts and eat grilled food. It almost makes me want to chop off all my hair again, or maybe at least get a trim. I stayed until like 9:15. It was pitch dark by then and I was afraid of walking into stuff :)
I drove past Sunset on the way abck but there were a ton of people at the DDR machine so I came home and played PP. Chern and I had a loooong talk about what to do about the shops, and Kurosh cornered me for a ton of swordfights and I beat his ass in 80% of them and he was like "Holy crap, you've really gotten good, I like fighting you now because I'm learning a lot", which is like the nicest thing Kurosh has ever said to me, aside from "Clear someone off your hearties list for me right now, tart". I hung out with YHY drinking for a while as my alt, and hung out in the tailor talking about baseball with Damien and Dergon for a while, and then there was some craziness with Dergon, Weaver, Markozeta, and me "blockading the stairs". Whee.
Gil Meche pitched a complete game shutout today. How fucking cool is that? I mean even though I'm rooting for the Red Sox and all... yay Meche!
In other news, I have spent the last week or so deciding that TMBG's new album The Spine is actually QUITE good and probably their best put together album since John Henry ten years ago. I may write more about this sometime when I think about it and can write a coherent review. Honestly, if you're a TMBG fan, I totally recommend getting The Spine. Yar.
