The Saga of Whitefire Spontaneously Combusting
I would be asleep by now if not for more drama.
Today, non-PP: I did Jamba Juice and Wendy's for lunch, and went to I Love Sushi in Bellevue for dinner with Drew and one of his coworkers and it was AWESOME and we had great conversations about linguistics and old English and Japan and stuff and Drew sold me a Bumbershoot ticket so I'm set. Yay
Seriously, it was a great dinner. I hope I get to see Drew more.
The rest of this entry is about PP drama and Whitefire being a bastard.
I logged in when I got home. It was about 8:40... our OCL match started at 8pm. My team, Shuranthae had to go, so I jumped on, Skooshy jumped off.. it was Cahrin navving, Lovelytini gunning/bilging, me carp/bilging, Increase and Rochelle sailing. The other team was Whitefire navving, and not sure where people were but Calais, Scott, Silverdawg, and Kurosh.
Oh, the other thing is that I logged into a bunch of people going "Did he say anything to you guys?" because apparently Chernabog had logged in 5 minutes before me and left BD wordlessly. Bieyen said something in crew chat like "Oh, it's okay, Jan's here, she'll talk to him" and I said "actually, if you guys think I'm going to relay messages, you can all just STUFF IT" and went to OCL.
Yeah. So anyway, we were all kinda down because of the loss of Shur, but Cahrin stepped up to nav and we went into the matches. And let's just say that Cahrin scuppering rules. I mean, he was nervous, we were all a little, but we kept saying "Just do it, you're awesome, we're gonna win" and well... we got into the SF part max/max, and WE WON! Definitely a dearth of breakers, but, woo, go us, we're less greedy, maybe?
Well, Whitefire was PISSED I think, because he immediately re-engaged us without giving us a chance to get to port or swap mates or fix up the ship or anything. (These are the finals so we played best of 3 matches)
We were kinda annoyed but we repaired our ship and went back out to battle. Eventually we were up, max on them, 2.5 shots on us. Har. Cahrin grappled, we swordfought and won... immediately afterwards WF's ENTIRE team except for Calais logged out.
Apparently Whitefire was saying that the reason he didn't shoot us more was that he ran out of cannonballs. WELL, WHOSE FAULT IS THAT? If he hadn't re-engaged us without allowing us downtime/etc, he could have fixed his boat and RESTOCKED, you know?
Damn, we felt good :) Down several people including our navver and we still came out ahead 2-1. Woooo!
So I went and sailed up the rest of Chern's tellurium since it was on Tronstad's ship not his (HI RANDY <3) and when I get to port at Turtle, I see Whitefire jobbing all these random people to BD.. I kept asking what was up and he wouldn't tell me... just told everyone else to come to Jorvik palace. Well, what does he do when he gets there?
[23:02:15] Whitefire says, "right so thx for standing around"
[23:02:42] Whitefire says, "anyway, I went out beat up a guy and have a vial of heroin thats tempting me to inject it now"
[23:02:52] Whitefire says, "I figured that this game is not worth my stability"
[23:02:58] Morada says, "so this is an intervention?"
[23:03:02] Whitefire says, "no no"
[23:03:07] Whitefire says, "I'm just gonna be "gone""
First he gives a bunch of his ships and stuff to, like, Zallandra, Postkky (for Misery), Unikhell, etc. Then he's like "ok mates, join the tourney". He had put up 34 of his ships on the tourney board and 80k poe and 1 min to start.
Apparently the story is that he was "committing suicide". Of course, he goes and invites all his FRIENDS, and gives them stuff, but what does he give his CREWMATES? Nothing. Essentially proving that what we'd been saying all along, that Whitefire was just not a real member of BD, was the case. It's amazing what a different view of him you can get when you're in his crew as opposed to on the forums or on his 24-hour pillage or whatever.
So we joined. The tourney happened. Silverdawg won.
I was like "Oh crap, I sure hope I don't have anything on WF's ships that I need for the shop, considering he just gave away like HALF OF BLACK DEATH'S CURRENT FLEET".
I go to the shop to look through stuff... a bit later I get a tell from Zallandra saying "The ship WF gave me... it says stuff on the board like "Janthina's cloth, please do not touch"... is any of the other stuff on here yours?"
I go "Dunno. Job me?"
She goes "Sure," jobs me over. What do I see... but Whitefire's "storage" merchant brig... filled with 2000 or so shot, 300 rum, 2 kraken's blood, and... and 200k poe. She's like "It looks like he delivered this stuff from Ferrosmith an hour ago or so and put the poe in the hold?" And I'm just like "Uh." Since the people with access to Ferrosmith are Comp, WF, and Stoneman, I asked Mnemosyne to please look at the log for me, explaining the situation.
[23:49:59] You told Mnemosyne, "is there a chance I could get you to look at a shop log? Whitefire just combusted and gave away 40 of our crew's ships and we're trying to sort out whether he also griefed our shop"
[23:50:15] Zallandra says, "We were just talking that we'd move this to ship to a crewless alt so no one can touch anything until we hear from him again."
[23:50:25] Mnemosyne tells you, "Which shop?"
[23:50:59] You told Mnemosyne, "Ferrosmith, on Epsilon."
[23:51:37] Zallandra says, "hopefully he didn't withdraw the 200k from ferrosmith... i'd wager he deposited some to make up for the balls he was giving away"
[23:51:47] Janthina says, "yeah, Mnem's gonna look at it for me"
[23:51:49] Mnemosyne tells you, "He took 200,000 from the coffers about an hour ago."
[23:51:53] Janthina says, "Uhhhhh"
[23:51:57] Janthina says, "He took 200k from the coffers an hour ago"
[23:52:01] You told Mnemosyne, "Oh my gosh."
[23:52:13] You told Mnemosyne, "So I'm on a ship he just gave away with 1200 cannonballs and 200k on it and 2 kraken's blood and..."
Uh, yeah. And all along Zall's telling people like "Look at this great gift Whitefire gave me! Worth like 350k total! Woo Whitefire!" and I'm just like "Uhh... I dunno what I can do about this."
In the end Zall put the ship on an uncrewed alt to leave it untouched until we can actually get in touch with Whitefire. But ugh.
So yeah, by this time I'm already somewhat annoyed and frustrated at the world, and then Cherny goes and joins Llyr's Pact, which was expected I suppose, and Kui logged in, so I got them to job me and I told the whole story to Kui and Gigza, asking whether Ferrosmith owed Whitefire anything. They were both like "..." And no, we didn't owe whitefire ANYTHING, so he basically took 200k out of our shop and gave it away.
Well.
Man. Just color me pissed off.
So I ended up statwhoring for a while with Gigza and Kuibbles to calm down and relax, and then doing tailor work, and then hanging out with Chernabog and Damienroc in the weavery some, and now it's really late and I should sleep but I really needed to get this entry out.
Suffice it to say... I doubt I will be in Black Death much longer. Infact, the only reason I'm still there is I worry about the shops. But I'm betting anything I'll be gone by the end of the weekend. Seriously. I'm gonna settle it so Chern and I can continue running our shops that we've worked so hard on the last four months, and anyone standing in my way will get plonked.
Oh yeah, and Complicated is leaving the game too. Whee. I don't even know who will be the captain next. Depressing. And I doubt it's worth staying for.
So yeah, that's my evening. How was yours?
