Thursday - Despondence and Robo Rally, Friday -- The Ship
Thursday... we woke up with no particular plan and nothing in particular to do. Jeff and I ended up walking about half a mile away to get lunch, so that was something to do for a bit, then we came back and pretty much did nothing for several hours.
Around 6pm I pointed out that our choices were either to go to the baseball game, or go see a movie, or play a board game. Well, Muffy was coming back here with Jason (yes, THAT Jason) from the airport around 7:30ish, and we sat around debating for a while what to do (until pretty much the baseball game was no longer an option), and well, we decided maybe Robo Rally would be cool. I invited over Bob/Arrvid since he'd expressed interest in playing it sometime, so between the three people that live here, the three guests, and him, we had 7 for Robo Rally. That was pretty cool. The game went on pretty long and I think I feel good about it only because I did get the first 3 of 5 flags and never died. Adam and Chris were both taken out by dying... and Bob left early... and Jason never got past flag 1.... and eventually Muffy and Jeff were poised to get the 5th flag and I was coming through the middle, and well... I could push Muffy's robot off the edge into the pit but I couldn't get at Jeff's... and I mean... it'd be dumb NOT to push her robot off. So I did that, and then Jeff won two turns later. Doh.
Oh well, it was fun.
Friday I slept in and pretty much woke up late enough to just get ready to go to the PP boat thingy. Adam gave me and Jason a ride over to the Argent hotel, where we met up with a whole lot of other people who were dressed like pirates and stuff. It was pretty wacky actually. Squid and Lemur stopped by for a bit, and Pierut and Sigil, and then the rest were all people going on the boat... the devs were there and all dressed up... and many people... I met Liani and Hom-and-Thus, and Ciara, and Kui showed up too, and there were all these OMs and devs which was weird but cool. Nemo actually dressed up as his avatar, which was awesome. Poseidon and Cleaver and all had octopuses on their shoulders, and Bluebeard had a parrot, and Ryanne also had an octopus, and I had my monkey, and it was pretty funny overall. Hermes had a nametag that said "Beware, for ye have met Casnorf", which is how I went up to him like "Hi! You must be Hermes!" Har. I saw Artemis and Hades and ran up to them to say "Hi! Where'd your hair go?" (She had long hair when I met her in March, but was now short-haired) Err... so anyway, we got on a bus which took us to the pier about 30-45 mins away, and then we got on the Hawaiian Chieftain!
It was a 3 hour tour! Hee. There was food to some extent, and wine and champagne and beer and stuff, and lots of people in piratey costumes. We kept yelling "YARRRR" at passing boats... and the crew raised the sails and whatnot, and fired cannons (everyone was like "can I gun? can I gun?") and I guess we basically all just went around chatting and taking pictures and whatnot. Beryl was just taking shots of everyone so I had a glass of wine so I held it over my head :) And Angie and I talked a while about nav and stuff. and I made an effort to talk to the dev's wives/girlfriends who don't play. Nemo's wife is really nice, and Red's girlfriend was also fun to talk to. Bluebeard had a buncha people asking him who his alt is... and I know who it is but I won't tell because I'm cool like that. Hermes and Demeter and all were sitting around talking for a lot of the time... Hermes is really funny! And he's like "All the OMs love me.... EXCEPT ERIS!!!" and Eris comes over like "I'm divorcing you!" And he's like "Great, I'm shacking up with Demeter!" It was all kinda comic. And at one point everyone was talking about the people everyone loves to hate, which was also pretty funny. I mean, EVERYONE hates Robertdonald. Kinda silly.
Ryanne and I actually ended up talking a lot too, which was cool. I guess the upshot was that it was a good opportunity to get to talk to some people that I've never met ingame before and all. And then I hear this rumor that a certain pirate aboard is actually Steve Jackson, but having never met him before I couldn't confirm or deny that. And then there was hanging out with Hom-and-Thus, and Thus is not kidding, Hom really DOES jump up and down when he's excited about stuff. And all the OMs and devs kept saying to me things like "We loved your costume. Very impressed that you actually did your avatar!" Of course, Nemo was like "BUT YOU STILL HAVE A TAG ON THE APRON FROM CRATE AND BARREL!!!" Har. Anyway. Lots of details I'm forgetting, overall it was cool after all, etc.
Took the bus back to the hotel... I was talking to Joe/Garnot on IM, he was at the hotel and bored, so I told him to come downstairs, and I was sitting with Garf and Eris and Elie so I told them to come hang out too, and so we all talked for a while at the hotel... and while I'm standing there a tall skinny kid comes up to me like "HI JANTHINA!" and I'm like "Uhh.." and it was Whitefire! Whee! So I introduced him to Kuibbles and Cleaver and all, which was amusing, and then the crowd started dispersing... a buncha people were headed to Chevy's but I just kinda wanted to get out of the way, so Garnot and I went up to his room and just talked for like an hour and a half... it was cool to catch up with him, I hadn't talked to him in a while. He's neat. Around midnight, Jeff showed up with Min and Shagbeard, and so I went with him, we picked up Jason, and then headed back here. Whee. Jason and I actually talked a bit and now I don't think he's mad at me anymore, which I guess is good.
And now... there's a lot of people at the hotel hanging out but it sounds like a madhouse so I think I'm just going to hang out here for a few hours and then head over to our black deathian crew dinner meet, and then the main party. Yeah.
