Sunday, Monday, happy days? Not.
First order of business: HOLY SHIT WHAT? I apparently have to go to Otakon, holy fucking shit, I mean, L'arc~en~Ciel's only been my favorite Japanese rock band for I don't know, eight years now? Jesus. Great... so how the heck am I going to Otakon... anyone have space in their room? And will it be possible to ensure a seat at the Larc concert somehow? I don't even want to go to the con, I just want to go to the concert.
So, anyway.
Sunday I went over to Casey's house in Kirkland for Ricochet Robot night. It was a few games of Ricochet Robot first (with umm, Dream and Eric and DJ and Casey and me and Daniel and... we lost Dream and gained Matt and Tom though, through the evening), and then some pizza, and then some Acquire, and then more Ricochet Robot. Acquire was bizarre, I'm not used to the new board and whatnot. And I even came in second oddly enough. Eric won after totally cornering one of the large chains, basically.
Ricochet was fun though. I won every single game of it, but that's ok. Tom had written a Ricochet solver that morning for fun, so he used DJ's laptop and would have it compete along with us. It was finding solutions up to 7 fairly quickly but after that it would hang... he did pretty brute force BFS without hashing the boards or pruning of any sort, so it's unsurprising. It was funny when he kept saying I was beating his program in speed though :)
Tom gave me a ride home. It turns out he plays/played Puzzle Pirates for a while... at the end of the evening I'd mentioned how I was thinking about some PP map graph theory issues, and he was like "Oh! PP! Neat!" So we chatted about it and cars for the ride home. He drives a Subaru Impreza WRX or whatever just like Oren's, and drives pretty damn fast, which was kinda fun and kinda terrifying.
Monday I... I didn't really want to be at home so I went to the Mariners game alone. I figure I'm not going to find anyone who can go to the game Thursday afternoon so I traded one of my tickets for a ticket tonight. I asked for row 9. I got it... though it wasn't such a great seat since the fence railing kinda obstructed my view a little. I was going to move seats, until I heard the guys next to me talking and one of them kept mentioning Pittsburghy things, so eventually I finally asked "Are you guys from Pittsburgh?" And well, no, they were in town from Texas but the one guy WAS originally from Pittsburgh. So that was cool. They were in Seattle on business and were big Texas Rangers fans so they had come to the game... so rather than sitting alone for the whole game I ended up talking to these two guys about baseball and Pittsburgh for most of it. That was pretty cool. It's fun when you can be like "You know what I miss? I miss Del's" and someone's like "HOLY SHIT DEL'S! GODDAMN WE HAVE NOTHIN' LIKE THAT IN DALLAS!"
Anyway, the Mariners managed to spectacularly lose when the Rangers hit 5, count 'em 5 home runs, oh god. Hank Blalock scares the crap out of me, you know. He hit 2 of them, Alfonso Soriano hit one, Kevin Mench hit one, and Mark Teixeira hit one. Have I mentioned that Mark Teixeira is really cute? No? He's really cute. Actually, the Texas Rangers have a generally young infield now that they've dumped Rafael Palmeiro :)
The other fun of the evening is that it was Country Music Night at Safeco, which was funny at best and torturous at worst. They did do a "Country Music Star or Major Leaguer?" guessing game which was pretty funny though. Lots of ones I totally couldn't guess. And the last one of course was Kenny Rogers.
I continue to play Puzzle Pirates into the wee hours of the night. I've been hanging out with Cioj and the Fifth Fist of the Misfits a lot. They are pretty fun and quite a bit different than the groups I'm used to. And I'm really looking forward to hanging out with Kui in California again. I also managed to make it up to 9th in the ocean in Navigation after some big memming runs. Sorry, Carl.

That's okay, Dan's getting 9 Ultimates in his fifth week of playing or whatever it was convinced me that I'm doomed as far as stat competition goes. Just wait a couple weeks before you go acquire one of each shop and an inn, mmmkay?

But I'm amazed that LEC is going to be there. My little fanboy's heart is all set aflutter ;)
