Tuesday -- Shopping Pt 1. Mariners Pt 1
I'm just gonna do daily entries whee. They shouldn't be too long.
Tuesday I went on my first attempt at shopping for my McCarp costume (see icon) for the Puzzle Pirates Party. I was basically really only looking for a yellow apron. I went to Fred Meyer, they had blue and green and black aprons but no yellow. I did pick up a tire gauge and windshield fluid though -- go me!
Tried Target as well, no luck, no aprons. Went into Northgate Mall... walked around a bit... ended up getting an apron at JC Penney's... but it had writing on it. I figured I could turn it backwards if needed. And it was only $9.99, half price, so eh.
Grabbed dinner at the mall food court (Ivar's!) and got on the bus at the Northgate P&R after that to go to the Mariners game. It was exciting because Roger Clemens was pitching. I got to the game super-early and walked around the stadium.. there was a giant crowd waiting behind the bullpen to see Clemens warm up, it was kinda amusing. Anyway... Jeff met up with me around the start of the game because he'd run into another friend... we watched the game... it was really pretty amazing, a big pitcher's duel. Clemens pitched a shutout and Piniero ALMOST pitched a shutout. I mean, he pitched really well, just had one sorta-kinda bad inning. Bagwell got a single, the guy after him walked... with no outs, the Astros managed to advance twice and score Bagwell. Though it was really kinda weird since the throw actually beat him to the plate, but both Dan Wilson dropped the ball AND Bagwell missed the plate... but crawled back and touched it before Dan got there... and oi. 1-0, and that was the game. Very sad.
The highlight of the game was of course the new outfielder Hiram Bocachica. He wears number 44, plays centerfield, is amazing defensively, hits righthanded and not particularly well... can you say "Cheaper version of Mike Cameron"? I knew you could. But, yeah, he's cool. If he could start hitting better, he'd become a superstar on the mariners in no time :)
