wednesday... san jose and bemani and stuff!

Whee, so I didn't get to sleep until 6am or so, after throwing up and basically just forcing myself to keep my eyes closed until sleep came. I-Gene woke me up around 10:30 because he was leaving for work... and I couldn't get back to sleep... so I called up [personal profile] angelbob, got directions to his place, and showered and dressed and got on the road. Unfortunately, yet again, I got totally lost, bleh. I was supposed to take 880 to Fremont, but I accidentally took 280 to 680 instead and got totally confused and got off at a random exit and got directions to 880. Then I was on track, but I showed up at Noah's at like 1pm and I said I'd be there between 12-12:30 and I had no cell coverage and bleh.

Oh well, it worked out okay. I met up with him and his friend Rebecca and we went out for Japanese food and talked about Japan (as Noah is going off to Hokkaido in a few weeks. Lucky!!) and stuff. Came back to the Disaster House to hang out for a little while, got to see Brian for a few minutes, and looked up the directions to get to the Winchester Mystery House.

The Winchester House is the only place so far this trip that I've driven to and NOT GOTTEN LOST. Woo. The directions were pretty easy. So, I showed up there around 3:45pm, and the next tour I could get on was at 4:20. So I wandered around the gift shop and grounds for a bit, bought some postcards to send my family, called I-Gene, and then went and kinda took a nap for about 5 minutes on a bench in the courtyard (really quite pleasant), until my tour got called.

So, the house itself is pretty much what they say it is... it's insane... it's huuuuge... lots of things that just kinda don't really make sense. Like several big winding staircases with very slightly raised stairs... doors that open to nothing... cabinets that open to nowhere... beautiful windows designed to catch the sunlight that have other parts of the house built behind them... tons of incomplete rooms... doors that go nowhere... doors that open up to a 12-foot drop... oi. Well, yeah. The tour takes like an hour and you walk like a mile through this house, seriously. Overall, it was kinda neat, I don't know if I'd go again but I did enjoy it. The garden tour outside was kinda cool too, especially trying to figure out where everything in the house was.

Oh well. So after that it was like around 5:45 and I wasn't sure what to do since I didn't think people would be at SVGL until 7:30-8ish, so... I tried to find my way back to I-Gene's place. It took quite a bit but I got here. Even better, I rebooted my phone and actually had a signal!! YAY!! Anyway, I came here and just conked out on the couch, even though I think I intended to either play PNM or whatever. Got up at 7:30pm because I-Gene called me to say "we're at SVGL! come here!" So whee. I got in the car and went up there. I even got lost despite how easy it is to get there - I went the wrong way on Wolfe. Bleh.

Ryan and Carisa and I-Gene were leaving to get dinner when I got there but since [personal profile] shandrew had called me while I was on my way there I stopped in and found him and dragged him with us to Burger King. (Oh, we ran into [profile] sarahnade on our way out too.) We got food and brought it back to SVGL and ate at the picnic tables outside... didn't run into any other people though, oh well. Went in, played a bunch of stuff. Ryan and I specifically played Puzzle Fighter... I thought we should have taken a picture of us playing and captioned it "Blithey and Janthina swordfighting" but I thought of it too late. I played one game of DDR with Ryan too. Ugh, I suck at DDR now, bleh. Especially after eating food. Also played some fun IIDX and Drummania 9th and all. Yay.

Everyone hung out a little bit afterwards outside and then we parted to our separate ways (aka the California Carpool). Came back here and played PNM, and I-Gene played some IIDX, and I called people to make plans for tomorrow, and whee, time to sleep.
