Carnival weekend continues... a tale of two Marks?

Monday:

Woke up way before Carl :) Even before noon, so I called [profile] mj2q and walked to Spice Island Tea House and we got lunch together. I had vaguely forgotten Oakland layout so I was 10 mins late. Oops. Anyway, I got to talk to Mark for a while and that was good.

Walked back to campus afterwards, stopping briefly to shoot several pictures of the centerfield wall of the long-gone-but-not-forgotten Forbes Field, which used to be in the middle of Pitt campus. Will post pictures for Eli's benefit, in theory.

Hung out in the lounge. aherrman may come out to Seattle for Microsofty things too so I talked up Seattle to him. Crazy-ninja-para Ian was there too, I thought he graduated by now. Actually, many people were there. Katie had me read over her Japanese conversation thingy. Nick and Babailey and Zach and the crew were there before running off to the airport so I got to say goodbye to Nick again. Some random freshman dude and I talked about the Mariners for a while (I was wearing a Mariners shirt). I talked to many people and eventually just kind of snuck off.

Went to the UC. Played Medieval Madness. Got two replays. I rule. IM'ed [profile] rkane and he said to come by after 4pm when he'd be done his homework, so I went to the University Shoppe and got a sweatshirt jacket and some assorted alumni-reminiscent-detritus. Passed up getting a license plate cover, maybe I should get one after all... "CMU Alumni" is cooler than "Honda of Seattle".

Went over to Doherty Apts a little after 4pm as promised. Got to see Mark.... got to see Mark's TV, which is as big and scary as advertised. Met his roomate Alkas, and saw Lacey and Neil too. Hmm, I certainly hope that isn't the last time I ever see Mark, because that would suck. Everyone apparently was going to Dave&Busters for an SCS Seniors night. Neat, they never had that when I was a student!

But, since I am not an SCS Senior nor in Kiltie Band, my Monday night was spent back here at Carl's apartment (I ran into Ratha while walking back here! Neat!), where I got to play D&D with my old Greyhawk group. Since I have left, the DMship has transferred from Tal to Mike, and John Barr joined the party as a rambunctious fighter, and Brook's character (Jade) is apparently being semi-retired and this session she was playing Mike's old character (Basil). Norm's got a henchman who is acting as party cleric in my absence, and Carl finally has a familiar, and they seem to have totally retired Tim's character (Grundar), which makes sense.

It is a little weird playing in a campaign in a world I've been gone from for two years. Now I know how Tim used to feel when he'd show up here every 6-7 months and play. Anyway, Mike wrote my character into the current adventure, which was really fun, and we went around basically trying to track down a theft which was done by one of our own party members. I wonder if "Halfling racism" should be written onto Cal's character sheet somewhere. I'm sure if she ever met a lawful good halfling, that might change.

Anyway, I checked in on PP at 11pm to see if my brawl team needed me, and they did, because nobody else was on. We ended up going 0-4 after fighting our first round with only 3 people, our second round I disconnected due to the wireless, and the last 2 we just got fairly beaten; I'm not sure we cared at that point. In the meantime everyone said goodnight and left Carl's apartment because we figured out that if the session hadn't moved to combat and stuff by 11pm, it wasn't a good idea to start it.

Carl and I stayed up playing PP together for an hour or two after that, I helped his crew move some ships and forage some wood. Yay. We sat up talking a bit but both pretty much conked out. And now I am awake for whatever reason.
