And the days go by

Hmmmm, today.

Good things:
I got a cable modem! Whee! They came by to install it around 2pm. It was easy and fun and the network hasn't gone down yet. I like network that doesn't go down.

I got pad kee mow from the thai place at Uwajimaya for dinner. That was really, really good.

I got a big box in the mail from [profile] proz that is full of baseball cards and stuff! Ooh, exciting! I haven't really looked through it yet, but yay, thank you! It will do well to cheer me up, which I'll be needing.

[profile] ryani taught me how to distill in Puzzle Pirates today. I'm not great, but I get Goods and I got one Excellent, so maybe I can do that too. Arr.

Bad things:
I went to Sunset tonight to play DDR. I played Paranoia Rebirth Heavy (qualifier for the tournament saturday) totally cold, as if I'd just gotten to an arcade and had to play Paranoia Rebirth Heavy... like I might on Saturday. Well. Let's put it this way. I can PASS Rebirth Heavy cold, but I can't do well at it, AND I felt like total and utter crap after doing so. My sinuses flooded and I coughed up a lung and... my god, I'm just too old for this crap. Or out of shape. Either way, note to self: do NOT play Rebirth Heavy as my first song. If I do go to the tournament, I demand a warmup song.

There are some other very very bad things, but I can't/won't talk about them in a big LJ filter just yet. Sigh.

EDIT> ambivalent things:
I forgot to mention, but in Puzzle Pirates we had this crazy pillage where I was not only last pirate standing two battles in a row, but the first one I pretty much defeated 3.5 brigands singlehandedly and the second I defeated 2 brigands singlehandedly. My hands were shaking for about ten minutes after we got back to port. I'm not sure it's good when I think pillaging might give me a heart attack.

Ryan, Carisa, and I met up at SVGL today (like we tend to every week). For a final round Ryan and I tried Naoki Neo-Standard; he did better than I did, getting farther than I did, widening the score difference between us past every successive song, reaching the "x hundred combo" markers before I did...

I guess the guard's changing again.

Broadband is teh bomb and I had lunch at the Thai Palace yesterday too. *cue de ja vu music* I think I got the same thing. So good! Of course, adding the pickled chilis only caused my stomach to feel on fire, but man, it tasted good! ;)

That feeling of taking out impropable odds by your lonesome? That's called adrenaline. ^_^

Beat me to it. I've had that feeling too - once made it to the semi-finals for a tournament. I was going bugnuts. It was better when I was doing judo all that time ago - then I could actually *use* the adrenaline to good effect.

Yeah, the comment wasn't specifically a response... which I guess means I wasn't following instructions. (Right above this box is "Post a comment in response:" in big blue letters...)

Suuure, Ms. BIMP. :P

I definitely am out of practice, and Ryan and Carisa have been getting steadily better. Wonder if this means I should play more? Eh, I won't push it too much.
