My 4 seconds of fame

I drove to work today since Eli was going to work from home for part of the day... and I only stayed for a few hours because nobody was there again, and I still have a sore throat, and the cafeteria was closed, etc, so I put some docs onto my laptop and headed home. Actually, I headed to Safeway and went grocery shopping first. Incase anyone in Seattle cares, there's some SERIOUS CHEAP CANDY at Safeway right now, it's the post-Christmas markdown of all the green-and-red stuff. Whee.

I spent the afternoon doing some work, some stuff around the house, and some puzzling. And I went over to Megan and Josh's house around 7:30pm to look at their TV, because today was the day MTV was airing that "Top Videogames of the Millennium" thingy (remember I mentioned that they had a camera crew at a Team Seattle DDR practice a few months ago?).

DDR was the lowest vote getter of the ones that actually made it on, which was good since it meant it was the first game featured on the show. However, despite them videotaping us playing DDR at Lith's house for like 3 hours, they used about... 3 seconds of us :) They had Tanya on for a while, she looked really good, too, and then they showed all of us at Kevin's. You can see my feet as I play some song on double. And you can see Foy being silly. And me and James sitting there with looks of "OMG CAMERA CREW" on our faces. And so on. So it's my 4 seconds of fame.

The only high point of the show really is that Seanbaby hosted it, since I've been a Seanbaby fan since the days of Marybelle and sitting around reading random websites [profile] ssaiscps would send me. Most of the videogames voted on were stupid AND the way they presented them was pretty far out there -- nothing much about the actual GAMES in general, but instead it'd be like, for Zelda they had a garage band that played the theme from Zelda. Or like for the Sims they had the creator dude come out and talk for a while. Or for many of them they had this random EGM chick just babble. Even for DDR, they barely showed any of the actual game play, they just talked about Tanya losing weight and all.

Seriously, though, Tanya actually looked like she really belonged on camera, though, which was really impressive.

So if you want to see the show, MTV's showing it a few more times this weekend, although I forget when. It's called "Ultimate Video Game Countdown" or something.

After seeing that, I hung out at M+J's house for a bit more and then I came home. Actually, I went to Ivar's first because I really wanted some soup. I got a breadbowl of white clam chowder, and here's the best part - I asked if there was a good way they could wrap a breadbowl to go, so it wouldn't spill in the car, and so they gave me the breadbowl, and then a thingy of soup, and when I got home I realized that the thingy of soup was like, twice as much soup as the bowl holds! I win!

I puzzled and pirated and now it's time to sleepybye.

Oh! One other thing today is that I ordered cable modem service! Well, at least I think I did - we'll see if I get contacted by a service rep or whatever the website said would happen in 24-36 hours or whatever. I'm just so sick of our DSL sucking. Arr.
