Angels we have heard on high tell us to go out and BUY

I tried out the new Japanese restaurant in Squirrel Hill tonight, Chaya. (That's pronounced Cha as in cha-cha, or as in tea, and yah, not like a hebrew word.) Anyway, it's cute, but small - they only have 7 tables and four seats at a small sushi bar. It was full of Japanese people when we went there though. They have a gaijin waiter who speaks Japanese really well (of course he spoke english to us). It sucks because I was sitting there in Japanese-listening mode, hearing what all the people were talking about, and then because it is not really socially acceptable for me to speak Japanese there, I had to keep switching back into English mode to talk to Eli and to talk to the waiter. Very confusing. But, anyway, they have a menu of plenty of things not sushi, and I'd like to go back sometime and try some of them. I was just in a sushi mood today. Next time I will get zarusoba or katsudon or something.

We went to Barnes and Noble and I ran into Francisco as usual for B&N. I bought the Fanny Farmer cookbook, which is the one Jill or Kim had when I lived in Doherty and then Choli had when I lived on Shady Forbes. This is good because some recipes I was very familiar with, like one for fudge, and one for hungarian goulash, were all in there, and maybe I can start cooking again sometime. We'll see.

I watched the tape Corey gave me of the Weakest Link with the Star Trek people. It was really entertaining, not that I've ever seen the show before so I don't know how well or how badly they did, but it was still amusing.

Then I played DDR for a bit. I got 136 perfects and 3 greats on "Boys" basic, and all perfects on Boom Boom Dollar Basic (SSS!), and now I'm heading to bed.

You know, I wonder if I could somehow put up a wish list somewhere not Amazon so people have a hint of what sort of things I've been thinking of buying but have held off because of the Christmas season. Like, I want a copy of the Forgotten Realms sourcebook for 3rd edition, but it costs $40 so I haven't splurged on it yet. I'd like the Harry Potter Trivia Game, but I haven't seen it in stores in a while. I want the Megatokyo teddy bear. I'd like the 5-6 player expansion for Starfarers. Other things I want, of course, are too big, really, like a printer, and a digital camera, and stuff. And I still don't know what's an easy thing to ask, like, my mom, for. Because she always gets me things that are sort of valuable but are completely useless to me. Sigh.

And yes, I know I'm a greedy idiot. But I like buying stuff for my friends, and I like getting presents. Although I guess I do enjoy just getting stuff for people. I like to even think I'm pretty good at picking stuff out for everyone, although who knows. It could be just that some people are good at hiding their "oh god, not one of these," reactions, which I am not very good at. (It sucks because I feel that I am incredibly tough to pick out presents for. Though anyone who manages to really pick well will be rewarded with a metric shitload of enthusiasm and happiness and all, as some of you very well know.)

Errr, anyway, I need to finish this entry fast so bye.
