ほら耳を澄ませば聞こえてくる 内に秘めた祈りに似た叫びが
Today I finally wore my Yomiuri Giants shirt around. It was pretty funny, one guy in the elevator was like "what, are you defecting to the NL west now?" and I couldn't figure out what he meant until a few minutes later, when I was like...
1) dude. it SAYS yomiuri on the sleeve.
2) it's a Yoshinobu Takahashi #24 shirt.
3) even if you don't see the name Takahashi on the back, the SF/NY giants retired #24 for Willie Mays over thirty years ago. DIDN'T YOU GET THE MEMO?
Takahashi is cool though. I was reading a random webpage on Japanese baseball the other day and they were like "If I could pick my Japanese-born all-star current baseball player team... outfield is easy, Hideki Matsui in left, Ichiro in center, and Yoshinobu Takahashi in right. Michihiro Ogasawara at first, and..." I thought that was cool :) I like Ogasawara, he's like the unsung hero of the Nippon Ham Fighters or something.
Yeah, anyway. Brent had a party for his old team today and invited our team. There was beer and food. Colin and Aaron and I went, and we ran into Ann, and now I'm trying to convince her she wants to defect to our group, to up the CMU quotient. I ducked out of the party after a while and went and tried to do more work, while not being distracted by the Phillies officially eliminating themselves from the NL Wild Card. I was at work until like 8:15pm and then I grabbed a bus downtown, ate a 6" Subway sub in the time between transferring buses, and came home.
All I really did at home from 9:30pm until 1:30am was play Puzzle Pirates. Actually, it only sucked for the first hour. I got stuck on a SUPER BORING ship for HALF AN HOUR just bilging and sometimes sailing. GOD that sucked. I kept thinking "I'll just stay on until I get paid," and then BAH it took FOREVER and I jumped ship like RIGHT before they got to their place apparently, so I never got paid AND I wasted a ton of time. As I told Nykkel, it's like when you go to the arcade and nobody's around and you're bored and you're waiting for interesting things and people to happen and you play crappy DDR and... yeah.
So I randomly jobbed with another crew that sounded more interesting and they turned out to be. We had a lot of pillaging and swordfighting... the crew's name is the Pillaging Penguins, under the Pillage People flag. My cut of the money was not particularly stellar or anything, BUT the interesting thing was afterwards...
so I'm sitting in the tailor's on whatever island we landed on, and the captain of the crew was there, and I asked if they were looking for more crew members, and they said they were. So on a whim I decided to jump crew on the PPA and join the Pillagers. I noticed they had a "naokimaeda" in the crew, so I asked the captain about that. She was like "yeah, when I saw him with that name I recruited him into the crew."
Me: "You play Bemani?"
Her: "Yeah. It was great, I was swordfighting with him with 1998 playing in the background."
Me: "Seriously? Why not In the Navy?"
Her: "Ha ha."
Me: "This is cool, there are several of us on here that play Dee-Dee-ARRRRRRR together in real life..."
Her: "Yeah, there are a ton of bemaniacs in this crew. You'll fit in well."
Me: "West coast?"
Her: "All over... I'm in WV actually."
Me: "Dang, do you guys even have any DDR there?"
Her: "Yeah. One machine, in a skating rink. 3rd Korean V2."
Me: "I LOVE 3K2! All we have is Extreme!"
Her: "I'd love to play Extreme someday..."
Me: "Trade?"
I dunno if I'll stick with them, their money-splitting isn't GREAT, but I can still job with other crews that have better splits, and maybe I'll get to chat with some other Bemani people while I'm at it.
Oh yeah. I decided that if I'm gonna keep babbling about PP, maybe this is a good excuse to get rid of an old LJ picture (and then when I get sick of PP it'll be a good excuse to get yet another new picture). So, bye bye "変な外人", hello Janthina-the-puzzle-pirate. Ain't it cute?
