fun in taking new bus routes
I woke up feeling crappy today as I mentioned, got to work a little late, it didn't really matter. I listened to the Mariners-Tigers game on the radio during work, we won of course... my stomach still hurt a lot, which sucked sucked sucked. And the stupid trading deadline is over and Aaron Boone is now on the Yankees... wtf? Much as I think Bret Boone is a prat, it woulda been k-rad to have both Boones on the Mariners. At 6:30 I went to catch a bus to Cap Hill since I was meeting Dave and Brian (my friends who started CMU SCS at the same time as me) at Chang's Mongolian Grill. I got on the bus. I fell asleep on the bus. I woke up and thought I'd missed my stop (I'd never taken the 60 route before) so I frantically got off the bus.
Sadly, I had not only not missed my stop, I was like a mile away from my stop... in the middle of First Hill or something. I was at like Madison and Minor... and ended up walking all the way up to Broadway and John or whatever. It was just funny because I really had no fucking clue where I was... I was like standing there walking down the street, baggy army pants and backpack and straggly hair thinking "Gosh, I hope I just look like a random hippie freak, not someone carrying a very expensive laptop in my backpack." Anyway, after walking a mile or so in the heat I got to Chang's and met up with Dave, and Brian showed up shortly afterwards. Though I had been feeling nauseous all day I still managed to eat around one plate of food total (the guy burned my noodles on the first plate so I did a second smaller plate), and had a lot of fun hanging out and talking for a while. Would be good if we continued to do these like once a month or so. There was no ice cream at Chang's sadly, and Dave had to go run errands, so we went home. Brian gave me a ride. He kept thinking he was driving
katyking home instead which was kind of amusing because I'd be like "no, take the next exit" and all.
I got home around 9pm and just lounged the evening around because I'm trying to rest and get better. I was supposed to try to meet up with the Sean-Jane-Rachael crowd and the Meltons, but I don't actually have any of their current cell phone numbers, and nobody called me either, so oops. Hopefully we'll see them tomorrow in the late evening or something. It was a pretty good evening, anyway - I found an inspiring cache of DDR cosplay pictures so I'm going to be updating my site in the next few days or weeks. And I played some more IIDX and PPL and enjoyed it.
About the last post, I think I need to spend tomorrow narrowing it down to whether or not I go to CA. I don't think we're going to do Vancouver or the Olympics next weekend. I doubt I'll get a ride to Eugene. Baltimore looks too expensive without taking off days from work (which I don't want to do) so I really figure my options are either going to CA to see everyone, or staying around to say goodbye to
rkane and not doing much of all... well, I'll let you all know what I decide tomorrow. But it's been really encouraging that people actually want to see me in CA. I hope that means I can invite them all to Noah's party if I go :)
Oh, and we've been living in Seattle for a year now, how weird. We moved here July 30th, 2002. SCARY! I think we're mostly adjusted... now if only I could find a new Carl out here.
