Narrows and the Mariners game

I woke up "early" today and went down to Belltown to Mark and Jon's apartment, where after an extensive commentary on Magic: The Card Collection, we got on the road and went to Tacoma. [profile] daviticus drove, and me and [profile] rkane and Steve O rode along. (Big Dave Charlton and Mark and Steve being CMU people who are out here for the summer.) Somehow despite my lack of actually remembering real street names, we got to Narrows reasonably quickly. I was surprised to see some people I knew there (namely [profile] flotastic, Sumner, [profile] keiohki, and [profile] cynic573), but it was cool too. I played a little DM8th and then surrendered it to the other guys for the day :) I think they seemed to really enjoy it though, especially because the pads are Narrows are so much better. BTW, [profile] alibash, I think Dave calculated numbers and thinks they're kicking your ass at DM :)

So I spent my time pretty much half playing Beatmania III, and the other half playing DDR, with a little KBM/DM thrown in. I didn't really accomplish anything new on DDR except getting 10 greats on a buncha songs. 10 is not less than 10, though. OH, I did full-combo Twilight Zone for the first time ever with 59 greats! [personal profile] bk1e, you're probably totally right about that song... I also got a song on Beatmania with all greats/justgreats, it was by good-cool, I think it was "Overwhelming". Way cool :) And I played Salamander Beat Crush Mix Weird Remix on shikomi a bazillion times. So fun!

The guys ran out of quarters around 4:30pm, so we went to IHOP. Sadly, the Paradise pancakes are no longer around! OH NOES! They had a "red white and blueberry" special instead with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream, so I got that instead. We hung out talking about random crap, geeking out about CMU classes, and we didn't succeed in convincing Dave to order a Rooty Tooty Fresh'n'Fruity (for the second reference to [profile] alibash of the day). Then we drove back, and I got dropped off at Safeco field, and the guys went off to see movies and most likely play Magic.

Edgars was waiting at the stadium for me, so I met up with him, gave him his ticket, it was like 6:20 so we went into the Mariners Team Store for a while. I got another Mariners duck, and a copy of the July issue of the Mariners Magazine (which came with a scorecard), and a Meche 55 t-shirt! Of course, if I was smart I would have gotten the Meche shirt yesterday and worn it today, since he was pitching today. Oh well. Edgars and I decided to go get dinner, and since I wasn't really that hungry, I said "let's go find the sushi place!" So we did, getting Seattle rolls and Ichirolls. The Ichirolls are spicy tuna rolls and they're pretty good - the Seattle rolls weren't as good. I still thought it was funny as heck to be eating sushi at a baseball game.

The game itself... Meche pitched 5 innings and they didn't go particularly well for him, it was 5-3 losing when he was pulled out. He even gave up 3 home runs :( Mateo came in and struck out like 6 people in 3 innings - for a total of 10 strikeouts during the game. Soriano was closer, so no Hasegawa today. (I was wearing my Hasegawa shirt.) I guess there were two major exciting moments for the Mariners - in the third inning, we caught up with 3 runs by Winn and Bloomquist getting hits, and then Guillen hit a home run (inbetween Ichiro and Boone striking out). Willie Bloomquist shone in this game as well, he had some amazing fielding, and he hit better than anyone else on the team tonight, with a double and a triple. He's pretty fast, I think they really should give him more playing time, and not just because Jeff Cirillo sucks ass. Yeah, so the other excitement was the end of the game... 9th inning... we're behind 6-3... now, in any other stadium (I quote [profile] ts4z from a Pirates opener several years ago: "Well, when all hope AND 30,000 fans leave you...") at that point most people would have left. Not Safeco. Not only was the stadium still packed but they put "RALLY TIME! MAKE SOME NOISE!" up on the boards and everyone was up on their feet cheering. And then Boone and Martinez actually got back-to-back home runs, bringing the score to 6-5! It was really exciting, but then Lou put in three separate pitchers for the next three batters and they all got out. Oh well.

I took the bus home, reading the Mariners magazine for most of it, and now I am home. Yay. I love Bemani and I love baseball :)

Yeah...it's a pity. I think so too. =(
I seem to have hit a slump in my dm learning curve though...I've been at about the same level for a while now...Perhaps because I'm too insistent on my "2 songs i can do, fail the 3rd" routine...Don't get much new practice that way...hmm...soo expensive. oh well.
