DDRambling, and Lunar Rails!

Holy crap, Amazon's stock is up to $40. No wonder so many people looked happy at work today...

I need some new DDR/Bemani goals. This is not a score-related post so it's not in [personal profile] janthina. :)

I'm not going to stop AA'ing things, but I think that rather than just going for pure numbers, I need to focus on some stuff in particular and set some goals. I'm not entirely sure what is reasonable for me to do at this point, though.

I still have every intention of trying to AA the following:
Kakumei
Sync Oni
Paranoia KCET
Orion.78 AM-Euro

Other goals I think might be worthwhile:
Try to AAA Be In My Paradise? I did get 5 on it...
More Heavy SDGs than the 4 I have. I have gotten 11 on White Lovers, Copa De La Vida, and Let's Groove before. I should be able to SDG those. I think. Maybe I should try to get up to 10 Heavy SDGs in July? I'd need 6 more and I'm close on 3.

I would like to increase my stamina. I played MAX300 Standard at NNA for the first time in months, and I noticed that it's a lot like being MAX300 Heavy Lite, really - there are still a whole bunch of parts of it that are long 8th-note runs, etc. I remember in the old days I was so proud I could pass it at all... and I think I actually got an A or B on it this time. I think I could FC it if I worked at it a little, and that'd probly lead to me being closer to passing M300 heavy.

It would be nice if I could pass So Deep, HVAM, Waka Laka, etc. But I just don't have the stamina, even with the bar. I'm not sure entirely what to do about that. It's not really stamina so much as like, during So Deep my legs just give out.

Still other possible goals:
Should I try harder to learn to Good Attack?
Should I work more on things like S4R? Other mods? Reading faster? (I'm comfortable at a scroll speed up to around 300-320bpm, after that I get too off-kilter).

Any input from the Bemani folks would be appreciated. I'm really not sure where I'm going next with DDR. I enjoyed the 100-AA thing because it meant Proz and I could trash-talk each other, so I need some other motivation. I kinda liked the idea I just threw at Keevon wherein we'd play together and he'd try to AAA 7-footers and I'd try to SDG them. But I dunno whether it'd be any better if we were BOTH standing there going "DAMMIT!" :)

I also wonder if I should set some goals for other games? But it's harder to focus on them as much. I want to get an AAA in IIDX, and maybe get some more A's and AA's on 6th style, and try to pass the rest of the Light-7 stuff. I'd like to officially know all the Para Para routines instead of just 95% of them. (I seriously think there are only 3-4 left that I don't know.) I'm not sure what to focus on with Drummania or KBM though... I don't really play them as much as I used to. And PNM, I gotta go to DJ's sometime and see his ASC! Hrm.

So today I got to work at like 10:15, told Dale I didn't see any reason to have a 1-1 meeting, and ran off to PacMed. Guido's back from his 3-week Bolivia trip!! Yaaaaaay, now we have a full office again. I got lunch with the group, which was fun. Catching up on emails and stuff wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be (mostly because everyone else was out for the 4th too... but I do feel a little swamped with stuff again), and I even got in a game of doubles ping-pong in the afternoon. Yan and I crushed Colin and Aaron. I'm finally getting a semi-decent serve back.

The oddest thing happened around 5pm though - Guido was like "Why is there a CMU banner in the hallway?" and I was all confused, so I grabbed Hemant and Aaron and we went in and were like "WTF?" and it turned out to be a CMU GSIA (business school) Seattle alumni gathering. Whoa, weird. So we talked to them for awhile and they were all like "oh, do come by later and have some food and hang out for the presentation," and we pointed them at our internal CMU mailing list at amazon, and it was kinda funny. Of course, I had no intention of sticking around, as I was going to Josh's after work for games.

Yeah, so the bus schedules got messed, and I got home like 7pm, and I was just going to run over to Josh's (literally. I guess I would probly have walked) but it turned out Eli was late leaving for his kung fu stuff so he gave me a ride over. I got there to find Josh wrapping up a game of Ambush with Justin, and Dan was there too (I had met Dan at a gaming party there like, in April 2002 or something). We turned on the Mariners game on the radio, ordered some pizza, and started a game of Lunar Rails!

This game is so fucking cool. It's like Iron Dragon but it's on the moon. The map is so wacky, there are two spheres and so you have to remember that things wrap around and the shortest path between two points is not necessarily as it appears on the board. And with my normal tradition, even though I was kicking ass for most of the game, I lost. Justin got his 250+ on his turn. If he hadn't, I had 211 and a contract for 39 on my turn right after his, and in reality I had an error in bookkeeping earlier and overpaid Dan by 2 bucks... and had taken Justin's rail when I didn't need to... bleh! So close. I swear, I will never win a rail game :) But I love them so much. And I really did have fun hanging out with the guys, even if I didn't really get to talk to Megan when she got back. Justin gave me a ride home and I've been still trying to catch up on stuff here since. Maybe I should go dump the Austin pictures... yeah.
