Mariners game and other fun

So tonight Eli and I went to the Mariners-Expos game with Casey and Cara. That was pretty awesome! They had tickets from Casey's boss or something, which were like 30 rows behind 3rd base or something. I got baseball junk food and it was funny because standing in line I'm like "why is the choir singing some weird song?" and then I realized "DUDE! THE EXPOS ARE FROM CANADA!" :) The Mariners won 1-0, though it wasn't really a boring game or anything - it kept getting REALLY close to one team scoring or the other but we outfielded their batting, and Bret Boone hit a home run, the only run to be scored in the game. Franklin pitched 8 decent innings and Rhodes pitched the 9th. It's cool, we're going into the weekend series with the Braves and we're only one game behind them. Shame it's hyper-sold-out because I would LOVE to go to one of the games... Anyway, I think Eli had a lot of fun talking to Casey, which is good, too. And I got to go to the Mariners Team Store, where I bought a Hasegawa number t-shirt (they didn't have Meche shirts yet, duh), and a 2003 schedule mousepad for like $2, and I also got a Mariners rubber duck for our bathroom, it's SO CUTE :)

God, the clothes are SO expensive in the Mariners store. I want so much of it and even with my bad attitude towards money I can't justify $100 for one of the gorgeous windbreakers or $130 for a jersey or whatever. Even worse, I've started seriously looking at some of the season ticket plans for next year... The 16-game one might not be a bad idea, you get lots of different days of the week... and it's nowhere as expensive as the other plans, nor is there as much chance of missing games.

Aaaaaaaaanyway, so my computer died at work today which sucked, and I'm using a loaner which sucks, but it should be okay soon because the one dude in Desktop is really cool, which doesn't suck. Guido left for his trip to Bolivia today, which kinda sucks, but a bunch of us had lunch together which was fun. Colin found out all this trivia about the Pacmed building from somewhere and said that for example, where our offices are, used to be the tuberculosis wing. ("Eww, dude, stop licking the walls.") And the mailroom is what used to be a morgue. Or something. It was kinda freaky when Yan raised the point of "Isn't that weird to think that people died in our offices?"

EDIT> Oh yeah. From [profile] inmostlight: http://www.hss.cmu.edu/pressreleases/marcks.htm
Isn't that so cool? Greg Marcks was always one of my favorite guys from fiction workshops and whatnot at CMU - such a funny, creative guy, I'm really glad to hear he's becoming somewhat successful :)
