1988 (from a thread elsewhere)

Yeah, I was thinking of posting something like "in 1988 I finished sixth grade and turned eleven, neither of which was all that exciting. However, given a moment to think about it, I can still name at least 20 out of the 30ish people in my sixth grade class. But I have a freakish memory, so that doesn't count.", but I decided not to.

Or maybe I did. Ha!

Now that I think about it, 1988 was also the first year I was a regular caller/poster to BBSes, often convincing people that I was in my early 20's because of my quick typing and precocious command of the english language. Sad, isn't it?

I had the same kind of experience - I started using BBSes the summer before 4th grade. Many people thought I was around 17 at the time, and as I grew older, that estimate also grew older.

It was nice not being judged on my height, but rather on my thoughts...

your current userpic looks like a police-computer-generated grown-up guestimation of dr4b's baby userpic..

I was somewhat similar. I got online at about 8th grade, and everybody thought I was in my 20s. Then a few years later I started frequenting BBS gatherings and half the people there still thought I was in my 20s and the rest thought I was still about 12.

The fun of having a really young face for a long time, I guess

the point was that the police pics never look anything like the actual grown-up pics..
