桜祭り, RPGing, Monkeyball!

I shouldn't update now, I should sleep, but I want to brain dump anyway, maybe I'll edit in details later... or I'll just brain dump. Whatever.

Tanya and Charlie and I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Seattle Center today. We were there from like 12-4. In that time, we saw taiko drummers, ate fish&chips because the Japanese food actually wasn't all that extensive, looked at art exhibits, talked to people at the Seattle Japanese Language Institute, sat outside at the fountain and watched little kids get soaked, checked out the second floor and WHEE! Tanya and I put on kimono for fun, which was really neat - so we got Charlie to put on one too and got pictures taken, which eventually we will scan in. They're really cool. After that we made calligraphy hangings. Tanya did 花 and I did 愛. Wheee! There were a bunch of people wearing Sakuracon shirts AND/or badges, which was kind of scary. Like "we're geeks, but those people are REALLY geeks." Anyway, after watching some singers a little and missing the kendo exhibition, we decided to go play DDR in the newly upgraded Extreme machine in the SC arcade. I ended up playing a set with a girl who was pretty bad at DDR, but it was ok 'cause she quit 3 songs in and Tanya and Charlie played songs with me instead (like Charlie said "hey pick something with really tough Oni steps", and since there's no unlocks I picked V and FC'ed it! Whee!), and then Tanya and Charlie played a set and it was great watching the crowds behind them as they did stuff like play the MAXes. Hm. So after DDR we decided to call it quits and go home.

I was feeling kind of sick so I took a nap. It felt good. I originally thought I'd walk to Megan and Josh's house so they could drive me to Lake Forest, but instead I totally zonked until like 6:30. I played IIDX while waiting for them to get me (passed a few new 7-keys in 5th Style), and then we went up north.

RPGing was really cool! When we got there Heidi was still cooking dinner so I played a couple rounds of Dead Or Alive 3 with Mike. I mostly got my butt kicked since it was his XBox and all, but I did manage to win twice as Ayane. I think I kind of got the hang of her counter-attacks pretty quickly, and she's fast, like Taki. :) It was pretty fun though. Then we ate dinner, which was really good, and sat down to business.

This was intended to be the final session in the campaign... we were even taking bets on who would die first. Our group was storming Team Tomorrow North America's headquarters. The idea was that my character or Cory's would go hack into the computer and get all the data we were trying to get to expose TT as bad guys, and we also would try to free some of the Teragen prisoners in the compound. So Justin and Mike and Cory and I went to bash in the roof and get to the computer room, and Megan went in with the big tough Teragen guys to go to the basement, and Heidi sat in a coffeeshop doing mental magic to keep up psychic links with us and to use ESP to scan the building. As it worked out, Megan eventually got in and freed a prisoner, and three nasty novas were waiting for us in the computer room - two of them kicked the crap out of Mike, and Justin posessed the third and depleted his quantum pool. Cory and I got scared and teleported to the coffeeshop to escape Ricardo ("Dude! Uh, let's have a latte!"), and eventually all the action moved to the front of the building and so we were like "okay, let's go in now that only the depleted nova is guarding the computer." So we did. And Josh was really nice to us - Firefly, the nova, quantum bolted Cory unconscious and almost got me, and I used my combat teleport to get the fuck out of there. (That was TWICE that combat teleport saved our asses.) Fortunately, we read the rules for attunement and it said I could take Cory AND one of the computers. So I did! Heidi's char told Megan's char "we got a computer!" and so she came upstairs with a prisoner and BAM! Everyone decided to retreat out... although in those last two rounds, Justin's character got beaten into a pulp and died, and Mike's char nearly got taken away but he homonculized and escaped without an arm and a leg, heh. So whee! It was a good end to the campaign and I can't wait for our D&D game to start, though everyone wants to take off a month or two before we start. Sigh. :(

So Josh and Megan gave me a ride home and I got here and saw Eli's car in the driveway, but there was no Eli in the house. Hmm. Weird. It was midnight and I'd also told people I'd give them a call and see what was going on after IZ. So I called Edgars and it turned out people were going to Tanya's for Monkey Ball. SWEET! So I also went over there, getting there around 12:45ish. Tanya, Charlie, Keevon, and Edgars and I played Monkey Ball until 4:30am. It owned, even if I didn't own. I'm supremely bad at Monkey Target in SMB2 because even when I manage to land, people keep pushing me off! *evil look at Charlie* But I did pretty well at Monkey Golf. I took over for Keevon and we went from 3rd place to 1st place. Whee! Maybe I do need a gamecube... no... noooo.... rawr. Though I should get a GC controller, maybe. Yay to Tanya for letting us all come over and stay up too late!

Drove home, now it's almost 5:30am. Whee...
