I went to IZ tonight and got my first Heavy SDG

Something I'd like to randomly note is that part of why I am feeling more comfortable in Seattle is that I actually run into people at random places. I hated feeling like the entire city was all strangers, but it's cool. Like today I ran into Josh's friend H.P. at Uwajimaya... and yesterday I ran into [profile] kitanaor at Oasis on my way to the Post Office... and little things like that.

Today I went to work and then IZ. Edgars gave me a ride there, which was really nice of him. There was a small group of people there, which I think was just enough for me to be happy - me, Edgars, Laura, Farren, Steve and Michele, Keevon, Tada, Wes, Hyunsuk and his wife, and umm... that's about it, there were assorted other people playing that I didn't know, I guess. There was actually this whole group of people watching us at one point and they were like "gaah, we're too scared to get up in front of you guys!" So I pointed them towards the DDR USA machine, and they came back later like "Hey, thank you so much! It is REALLY fun!" Hm. We had one Super-Session with me and Farren on KBM, Keevon and Edgars on guitar, and Steve on drums. It was fun :) I played a lot of Pop'n'Music 5-line which I am now inordinately fond of (thanks SO much to [profile] diskozombie for making me aware of it), and some 9-line with Edgars. And a ton of PPP. And I got to talk to Steve, I felt like I hadn't seen him in years!

The big achievement of the evening was my first Heavy SDG (single digit great). I got 175/8/0/0/0 on Keep On Movin' (or Keevon Movin' :). Yes, technically my 233/5/0/0/0 on B4U Trick a month ago should have counted more than that, but, eh. RAWR!

Most people left by closing, so Edgars gave me a ride home, we stopped by Dick's Drive-In burger place on 45th for food, and I'd never been there before, it was pretty cool! Now I am home and I've been doing laundry. Yay.

I am debating dropping out of drum corps. This sucks, but the schedules have just been all weird, and if we go visit Alex in Portland on May 11, that'll be yet another rehearsal I miss... and we're supposed to go play at Folk Life in late May. And there's no way I'll be prepared for it. And baritone bugles are really heavy. Bleh. I guess I am going to go to the next rehearsal regardless, assuming Joy goes and gives me a ride... but eh. I have to think about it, I guess. It's just that I'm not a drum corps person really AND rehearsing in Olympia sucks.
