Carnival, Day 4
Woke up a little late but not too late for Sunday Dinner-really-Lunch at Ralph and Lori's. We had like 14 people there!
cellio and Dani and
ralphmelton and
lorimelton and the Placeways and the Morrissons and Dave Maltz and his wife and
mrpeck and
dvarin and me and Eli. I think Ralph said it was the biggest group they ever had over for a meal before. Whee! They made a yummy pasta dish and salad and the biggest strawberry-rhubarb pie I have ever seen in my entire life (I took a picture. It was like 14-16 inches in diameter or so). Oh, and strawberry tart, too. I love strawberry season. So we had lunch and people talked around the table and then I went to the living room to talk D&D with Mike for a while. I have to get back to him on how to level my old character but I think it'll be pretty straightforward. It's not like I'll get to play her again anytime soon anyway, bleh. Anyway, we hung out until like 5pm when it was like WHOA it's 5pm, and we packed our stuff and left.
Went to Squirrel Hill for like 15 minutes to stop by Dave and Sprite's house, where we got to see their new baby Sean. Well, more like, Eli admired Sean and took lots of pictures of him while I oohed and aahed over Dave's arcade game collection in their dining room. Holy shit, he has all these cool old arcade cabinets, like Marble Madness and 1943 and Black Tiger and Robocop and I forget what else. I'm really jealous, I want to collect arcade cabinets and pinball games someday... but not until I have a house to put them in and time to really work on them. Dave told me a bunch of stuff about how he acquires and restores the games and it's really fascinating. But anyway, Sean is cute and I guess next time we see him he'll be HUGE!
Had to leave after 15 minutes, as I said. Went to campus, picked up Drew and Matt by NSH, and drove straight to the airport, not stopping by the Jensens' for their party, sorry :( We got to the airport around 6:45 for our 8:15 flight, and fortunately security wasn't too bad. We got some foods and things and I was feeling a little queasy, but fortunately the feeling went away after a half hour or so of the flight. And Drew and Matt managed to have seats right in front of ours, so that was kind of fun, Drew kept asking us for crossword puzzle help. The in-flight movie was Catch Me If You Can, which I really, really enjoyed! I couldn't help but think that somehow Leonardo DiCaprio's performance in it reminded me of Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley, but eh, it was good and that's what matters. Then I had 2 hours to waste on the plane, so I went to sleep.
Woke up, the plane landed, got the car, drove to Redmond to drop off the guys, came home, been trying to catch up on online stuff, failing miserably, giving up, going to sleep. Gonna do taxes tomorrow after work and maybe I'll do some DDR in the evening if I have time, like at Sunset or something, it's been like a week!
