This morning I got up ass-early to go to brunch with some CMU friends who are in town for spring break. :) I suggested the Broadway Grill because their AYCE brunch was great when Tanya brought me and Steve there, and because I thought people would be heading up I-5 straight to Whistler from brunch. Well, I was wrong about the latter... still, aside from Jacob and Ann oversleeping and deciding they didn't want to come, it was fun! Drew and Kevin Milans and James "Hat Guy" Pistole and Brighten Godfrey and Jane Valentine and Eli and I had brunch together. I got to catch up on what people were doing, and Brighten took a gazillion pictures of everyone. It was pretty cool, though I was sad that Ann wasn't there. We talked a bit about the war, and a lot about grad school, and computational geometry, and combinations thereof. "PI FOR PEACE!" was probably the quote of the morning. :) Turns out it's Hat Guy's birthday today, too, but nobody actually knew that! Weird.

After brunch I came home and goofed off for an hour or two... I started cutting out the patterns for the teal sundress I'm sewing for my Tran costume for Sakuracon. I also examined [personal profile] jinian's sewing machine and I'm not sure I quite understand how it works, I didn't actually try threading it and turning it on yet, I'll do that tomorrow. The thing is that looking at the dress pattern, it's really simple enough that I *could* probably handsew it in a day or two if I have to, but I'd soooooo prefer the machine for my own sanity. Anyway. I talked to Keevon for a while and decided that okay, maybe it would be fun to go hang out with people and watch Tron after all. (I was waffling because of timing getting back for dinner and being kind of tired.)

So I drove out to Redmond Towne Center and the ColdStone ice cream place. There were a gazillion Bemani people there... [profile] laurii, [profile] saenoda, Chris Foy, [profile] brainorgasm, [profile] gaffect, [profile] keevon, kevin's friend Jeff, and [profile] crackoon and Miyuki showed up, even. We all hung out for a while talking about random stuff. There were these teenage girls who for some unknown reason kept riding the escalators outside Coldstone up and down. So I kept yelling, Brodie-style, "THOSE KIDS ARE *BACK* ON THE *ESCALATOR* AGAIN!" which probably amused me more than anyone else. :) Hmm, eventually I gave in to temptation and got some strawberry ice cream, it really was quite good. The Coldstone employees are kind of like the Amy's Ice Creams employees in Austin, except their songs aren't quite as funny and they don't seem to throw ice cream at each other. Still entertaining though.

After that we lost Laura and Tanya to whatever, and the rest of us went back to Foy's house in Kirkland, stopping at Blockbuster on the way to pick up Tron. 3-car caravans are fun. Foy's family's house is HUGE and it's on the Lake Washington waterfront and oh emm gee it's just astoundingly impressive... it has this gorgeous view and everything... and Foy has all these oldskool videogame systems, like three NES's and an Intellivision :) So we all piled into the basement and watched a few tapes of Foy doing inverted aerial skiing, and after that put on Tron. I love Tron, so I really enjoyed watching it. It made me really happy that people seemed to enjoy all of my favorite parts of it, especially the Bit. ("YESYESYES") Tron is seriously one of the first movies I ever remember seeing in the theater as a kid, when it first came out. It also holds the honor of being the first Doherty 2210 movie I saw at CMU, the first Thursday of my freshman year. And it was so distorted that Aiton was yelling things like "HEY NICE LIMO!" about the Encom van, or "Look, a football!" about the orange. Anyway. Tron! :) Space Paroniads! We finished it up around 6:30 and I had to immediately take off and come home 'cause I said I'd be back by 7pm.

See, we invite [profile] thatmathchick over here a lot for dinner, so tonight she invited a bunch of people to her house for dinner! We got there around the same time as [personal profile] jeliza and hung out looking at Deb's old photos from the Yale Precision Marching Band, and playing with the cat that lives at her house, and stuff. Eventually some of Deb's other friends showed up, and we all ate a lot of pasta and salad and bread and stuff, and later yummy dessert of coffee cake and strawberries&cream. While the conversation was entertaining for a while, I just totally drifted off and fell asleep on the couch around 10:30-11pmish, I guess I was just really zonked. So we went home, giving Jeliza a ride home on the way. I pretty much came up here and have been writing LJ and reading stuff since, I'm gonna try to sleep soon I think. I just want to finish cutting out the patterns for my Tran dress first, and then I'll start on cutting out material tomorrow and maybe some sewing. It was a long, but fun day. Like I said, I am *loving* having so many awesome groups of people to hang out with!

Man, this music totally makes me think of my sophomore year of college, sitting around Donner with [profile] mj2q and everyone playing bridge and all. How simple life was then :) I still adore Brianna Corrigan's voice though...
