PPP tournament and other stuff
I'm so braindead.
Anyway, today was the Para Para tournament at Illusionz. I got dressed up for it. I guess I got there around 1:30, and they were setting up a little. Some people were already there, and there were many people playing DDR as well. (I ran into Nykkel, and he gave me the funniest look when he saw my outfit -- I was like, "Well, if I can't be good at Para, I might as well look good at Para, y'know?" Sadly, he had to go to work, so he wasn't going to stay to watch the tournament.) I found Steve and Aaron and gave the KBM stuff to Steve. Then I went and registered for the PPP tournament... and hung around the PPP machine with people, playing random songs and shadowing and stuff. Anyway, a little after 2 things got started. Derick decided to have a qualifying song (I wish he'd told us that beforehand!) of "Number One", in order to determine what order people went in during the tournament rounds. To be honest I think I had done that song all of like... twice, ever. But, and the broken part was, I got to watch several other people do the song before I had to go up to qualify. So I was able to pick up 80% of the routine on the spot. The order ended up being something like (first was worst seed, last was best) 1. Natalia, 2.laurii, 3. Tekku, 4. Keith (Cheesey), 5. me, 6. Howard, 7. Rayna, 8. flotastic, 9. megami, 10. Dylan.
First round, the card had something like O Sole Mio, Boom Boom Fire, and I forget the third song. I voted for O Sole Mio, but most other people voted for Boom Boom Fire, so that was the song. It wasn't so bad, although I choked a little. Everyone did the song, then there was a long tallying period where we played a bunch of songs on the PPP machine since it was on freeplay, and wandered around visiting people (I saw Tanya over by the DDR machine, so I said hi. She thought my outfit was cool... "yeah, a good excuse to dress up!"). Then let's see... there was a second round. The card had Sexy Sexy Sexy, Popteen, and My Sweet Banana. 5 of us voted for SSS, 4 for Popteen, and Rayna for Sweet Banana. So the second song was Sexy Sexy Sexy. I guess I got points for emotion because I was laughing my ass off after I got my hand caught in my hair or something. They did cuts after that round, and 4 people were cut: Natalia, Laura, Tekku, and Howard. (Howard getting cut was FUCKED UP since he's like, on Team Meitricks and he's really good at PPP!)
So the next round, with 6 of us remaining, they turned off the dancer and kept the arrows. The card had Bandolero Comanchero, Yesterday, and Mikado, I think. I'm not sure. At any rate we ALL voted for Bandolero, so it's a moot point. :) Keith went first, me second, etc. I actually thought I did pretty well for not having the dancer there, since I usually never play that way. But eh, I guess I didn't. Well, the scores actually looked pretty close. I think I even got a really decent machine score. But Dylan and I both got eliminated that round. Oh well.
I don't know the song choices for the other two rounds, but the next round was Ultra High Heels, same deal arrows-no-dancer, and Keith was eliminated. Then they did Velfarre 2000 as the final round, total stealth. Amber won, I think Rayna was second, Rumi was third.
Afterwards I hung out at IZ a little, playing more free PPP, and taking pictures of random people and stuff. I talked to Dylan for a while because I think he is way cool, even if a lot of his teammates are... ummm... a little weird. He's totally the sort of person I would have been friends with when I was 16. :) I got to play a little KBM, and a little DrumMania, and talked to Zannah and Rumi some, and then I left.
Then I went home, changed clothes, and embarked on being a complete fucking idiot... I drove to Kirkland 'cause Casey was having a board game night again. Except I got there and it looked like nobody was there... many parts of the house were dark and when I looked in, I didn't see any people at all. I didn't knock or anything because I was feeling really weird about it. I was in the car practically in tears trying to call Eli or anyone to get Casey's phone number, but he's unlisted. So I came back home feeling like a complete moron. I spent the night resizing my PPP tourney pictures and playing some IIDX 6th style and basically sitting around on the computer. I did try to go to Gordito's for dinner, but guess what? They shut down from Dec 16 - Jan 16. Fuck. So I got a burrito from Taco Del Mar. It was tasty but messy.
Bleh, the worst part is that I had been talking to someone on IM before going to Kirkland, and then when I came back he was idle, and it turns out he wanted to hang out tonight, but I didn't realize that. So if I'd just not gone to Kirkland and hung out with him instead, it would have been a much better night. I hate hindsight. And I hate feeling like I've just screwed up again.
Gaah, I'm up laaaaaate and we need to get up eeeeeeearly. I suck, suck, suck. And it doesn't help that Eli's guilt-tripping me over it either.
