Wednesday at IZ is a virtual Friday

So I went to work eventually, getting in at like 11:30. My officemate was working from home and my boss left early to take care of his beagles and... well, so I did some work with the comments I'd gotten on stuff from Shawn, but sort of hit a wall around 5pm. It's ok, because I spent most of 4-5pm on the phone with [profile] buoren trying to figure out what was going on. What was going on? He was riding a bus around town and having scheduling issues. So... he bailed. I left work around 6pm.

When I got to IZ there were all of these people there that I'd never seen before. It was weird, I sat there with Laura and was like "ok.. who are these guys... and how do they have memcards... WITH HEAVY AA'S ON THEM?" Weird. Anyway, people began filtering in slowly. I got to play a lot of games early on... then around 7:30 it just got way crowded. Tons of people were randomly there... I got to see Keevon do Long Train Runnin' and get 13 greats! Ack! He also got 3 greats on Spin the Disc! Ack! I am so doomed if I'm really entering LG2 on Saturday! Ack! Actually, I was
doing better than usual at perfect attacking stuff, but I was doing worse than usual at FC'ing while PA'ing. Oh well.

All acking aside, I did manage to sight-read a new cata cold - Tsugaru. Yay for me. Jeremy was there again! Yay! So I talked to him for a while and invited him to play with me and he did... and I let him pick songs except an LTR practice... so he picked Tsugaru! And I went "ack!" and then managed to get a B on it. :)

I had a lot of interesting interactions with the techs tonight. See, around 7:30ish when the crowding started, a bunch of us were noticing the volume was way down on the airhockey-side MAX2 machine. Farren in particular seemed pretty disappointed by it, and since I'm about a hundred times more assertive than him, I went up to the front desk and said "blah blah machine is quiet blah blah check it out blah?" A little while later a tech came out and opened up the machine and turned up the volume. Yay! It was much better and nice and loud again.

Later, I was playing KBM, and got a "cannot access slave CD-R blah blah" error.. I went to Farren like "Ummm, what does blah blah blah mean?" and he said "Congrats, you crashed KBM. Go find a tech." So I went back up to the front desk like "I bet you're going to think all I do is whine at you guys, but umm, I crashed KBM." So a tech was sent for again. Same one, even! Heh. He fixed the machine for me and even gave me a free credit. And then I managed to pass Presto Light+ again, which was happy. (I joked that I crashed the machine both by trying to play Presto and by laughing my ass off while playing Vitalize; I think I insulted it.)

A little while later when waiting for DDR the tech tapped me on the shoulder like "Hey. I'm going home now; make sure you don't break anything else, okay?" It was pretty funny.

Anyway, many cool people were there tonight; [profile] aquatwo showed up with [personal profile] lurker and [profile] kitanaor and K's brother; Laura and Becky and Ryan were there; Robby showed up too! Jeremy was there as I said; Tanya and Charlie showed up at some point, and Hyunsuk and his other half; and PR was there as per usual, and Keevon, and Derick and Howard, and some other unidentified BBS people who were all practicing LTR, and about fifty thousand billion random teenagers and stuff.

I played every Bemani game except Guitar Freaks. DMX is beginning to make more sense to me, and I even drew a crowd doing hopkicks to some song (Mobo Moga? Heaven is a '57 etc? I forget). DM was good, and PPP was fun - we did get a crowd together for an Easy Busy line dance, after some assholes were harrassing Robby on the PPP machine... we decided to band together to harrass the assholes. And of course since Derick was there, PPP was even more wacky.

I was going to play my last set with Farren because the timing was all dumb, but then the timing got worse, so I played a last set with Robby instead, and then the place closed. [profile] aquatwo and company had left for Krispy Kreme a while back; so after getting kicked out at 10:05pm, Farren and I debated joining them, and ended up going. KK was way crowded; when we got there, the other group was at the front of the line, and we were stuck at the back of a rather long line. It worked out okay though. They saw us, and pulled up an extra table next to theirs, and we hung out for a while. It was really loud in KK so I could barely hear anyone except for Farren, but I tried to hold conversations for a while... and eat donuts... and it was actually really fun! Happy! And I showed off my red glowing duck that quacks!

Oh, fun also for me was:
"So I've come up with the concept for my next edit."
"Cowgirl with no gallops?"
"Exactly."
"Uhh, really? I was kidding."
"No, seriously, I'm going to make it as a training edit for crossovers..."

Anyway, left around 11pm when the teenagers got too populous and too loud. Brought home extra donuts. Been goofing off on computer since. I suck. Gotta get up in like 5 hours to go to Portland.
