Lazy evening...

We went to a sushi place at 55th and Meridian. I forgot the name of it already. It wasn't bad, quite the opposite, but I'm just blanking on the name. The waitress kept speaking in Japanese to us, and I kept making faces at her. After dinner we came home. I decided to play console games for a few hours, because dammit, I wanted to relax. (Well, so I was informed of a 3rd Mix DDR machine supposedly 5 mins from here at Sunset Bowl in Ballard, but figured that maybe I should not go immediately after dinner... I think I might try to check it out tomorrow, if there's no quiz night or anything else going on.)

So, first I tried to play Gradius III. The cart is dead. Dead dead dead. It puts a big checkerboard on the screen. I played Super Bomberman 2 to make sure it wasn't the SNES's problem. I got a little carried away and didn't give up until level 5-4. :) If I could be said to *heart* anything, I certainly *heart* Bomberman. After that I plugged in the NES. I wanted to play Megaman 2, except that it was kinda fux0red. Basically, I could play, but all of the letters were screwed up, so I basically beat Metal Man's stage, then noticed the problem, smacked the Nintendo, and it reset. Oh well. So I put in the Legend of Zelda, which I'd been discussing on ICQ with Farren yesterday (we were trying to figure out a minimus quest for it - anyone know if you need to actually have the Magical sword to beat Ganon or if you can do it with the normal one?) and decided to just play around and be silly. So I went and got the Master sword before entering the first labyrinth, and decided to play it in "No Survivor Perfect Attack" mode. Basically meaning I was going to try to go through the labyrinths, clear every room of enemies, regardless of whether I needed to go into the room at all to finish the labyrinth, and regardless of whether the room had to be cleared to proceed, and not get hit at all. Whee. Well, I AAA'ed the first labyrinth, had 7 misses on the second, and was AAAing the third until I got up to the big boss with the claws and the fireballs, at which point I went brute force on his ass to kill him. (My 7 misses on the second, if anyone cares, were in that room where you get the magic boomerang - I didn't have a magic shield and got clobbered by the wall fireball statues.) Oh, and as part of "No survivors", I also made a point of sticking my sword into that stupid old man with the fires every chance I had. (I think Eli came in at one point when I was like "DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE? BITE ME!" or something.) I went and got the blue ring for kicks, and then turned off the game. I was actually pretty proud of myself for AAAing the third one... I used to have so much trouble with those damn sword-wielding no-front-hits thingies in it. (Sorry, I really don't remember the official names of any of the monsters anymore.) Next time, I'm going to get the master sword without getting the first sword and time it to see how long it actually takes. I don't think it should be longer than 5-10 minutes, unless I don't duck things well enough.

Not much else to say for the evening. It was relaxing. I can't believe it's 2am. I wanted to sleep earlier. I suck.
